Hi all, The tracking mode on Spot needs to be re started every 24hrs, I was working on 7pm but I in fat started it a few hrs earlier at Portland. Sorry about that. As I hav estuff to do here is a repost I did: Thanks to everyone who followed this and to those who posted. After doing this in Australia back in 2006 I know how god it is to go back and read the comments later. I am feeling good, here are some stats. 2006 - Australia 4430 klms Brisbane to Fremantle 45hrs 22mins with a 2hr sleep at Ceduna. First ever IBA 50CC Gold in Australia 2009 - USA 4891 klms Seaside OR to Ilse of Palms SC 46hrs 52mins with a 3 hrs sleep at Lincoln Nebraska This is given only to show you the difference in riding in Australia with the max legal speed limit of 110kph and single lane roads to the US with 75mph limits much of the way and 2 lane interstate 99% of the way. Its still a tough ride but compared to Australia its much easier, well for me it was. To anyone not familiar with my rides don't try this without a lot of experience. I have no pains and feel fine. I had 8hrs sleep and will get at least that over the next 4 nights leading up to the REAL ride I came here for. This was just a bonus. Had I not felt good and it was going to mess up my real ride I would have pulled out on this ride across. Once the ride is certified I will be the 1st in the world to have a 50CC Gold in both continents. Approx 71 have done this or close distance in the US (1000+ have done the shorter distance across the bottom where its about 4000klms or 2400miles) for a 50CC Gold but no one has done both. Before now. ps the lights at http://visionxusa.com/hid/5500/They are GREAT !!! checkout how light weight they are with internal balast

Tom,
Sent you a private message. Glad to see Davo arrived in fine shape, and good spirits. Looking forward to seeing him next week in St. Charles. I took a little ride to see Dave Muzzey and the Racer Cafe shop. Looks as if Muzzey has everything covered, and ready to go. Say hi to Davo, and congratulations too!!

A little off topic, and may be a bit late, but how do his tires look? I thought they were a bit thin when I met him in Cheyenne, and given he did another 1500 miles, and who knows how many more before reaching Chicago.

Tyres are great Rick, I have run these tyres a while now and know what they will do, in fact your roads here are easier on tyres and wear is better so far. Me thinks you need glasses EDIT: Rick, that was dave, btw! he used my computer and it logged on as me!

Nice pic's Tom, Davo I know it's early and there are a lot of variables, but any guesstimate of your ETA to Saint Charles on Wednesday? I know check-in is from 5 to 9:30...... the shop is open until 8, and they know you are coming. Plus it will give John and I an approximate time when to get there to meet you. Plus we can let the shop know, they said they wait....

Thanks for looking after our mate and for the pics of his ride. Davo, am glad to hear that the new lights are working well and that the SPOT mount has stayed in place. Did you for get that you have to push the OK button every 24hrs for the auto tracking to continue?

Dave, I just called and talked to John. All is good still hoping for a 6pm arrival but hey its all new country to me. I told him to meet me at the checkpoint, we can go to Racers Cafe from there rather than getting mixed up.
Michael, I remembered but had it my head I started it at 7pm but I started it at 3:30pm or there abouts so it ended. My system is now every 2nd gas stop so it never becomes a problem.

I was eagerly looking forward to following Davo's ride on Spot, but now find it password protected. There is also a connection to the IBA people for comment. I presume that this means that Mr. Higdon's suggestion that there be no blogging, and no outside contact has prevailed. Most unfortunate.

Although I do enjoy reading the reports and following along, events like this need to keep under the radar. But since we are here any updates?

I was able to "hack" into Davo's SPOT report by guessing what the password would be. It's a pretty simple password, the kind that IT guys will tell you to never use because it's too easy to guess. From the start point, he went east to I95 then south down to the vicinity of Orlando, crossed over to the coast and headed back North up to Jacksonville, headed east over to Gulf Shores, AL, turned back north and east up through Montgomery, AL, Knoxville, TN and is currently heading east out of Cambridge, WV.
