OK,
I REALLY like this alarm but the fact that you need to turn the Ignition to ON within 25 seconds of disarming the
alarm was a bit of a pain.  Since you will be next to the bike , why not use the Kipass steering unlock signal to send
12V to the Alarm.  It really doesn't care where it gets the 12V as long as it 'sees' it within 25 seconds of the disarm.
I used the F terminal (Red/White wire) of the steering lock connector (the harness side) to provide this 12V.  Now when
I disarm the alarm all I have to do is press down on the stove knob to unlock the steering lock.  This 12V only appears for
5 seconds each time you press down on the stove knob.  I put a small (1A) common diode in this circuit and connected it to the Switched wire for the alarm (brown wire on the alarm).  The band on the diode should point towards the alarm, not the wiring harness for the bike.

This is where I tapped into the R/W wire in terminal F of the Steering lock connector that sends 12V to the Steering lock and the Air switching relay for 5 seconds each time the Stove knob is pushed down:

This is my connection to the Steering lock connector, the diode is under the heat shrink tubing:

This should make this $149 (special pricing right now) alarm MUCH more acceptable.  I have no financial interest...yada yada yada

Nice job Mick and thanks for passing that along.

That idea got me thinking it might be possible to fully automate the disarming sequence by tapping into the signal light circuit and feeding it, with a diode, back to the ignition feed going to the alarm. Assuming the alarm is actually disarmed immediately and the flashes occur slightly afterward, that would simulate turning the ignition on and keep the unit disarmed. Unless the same flasher signal after arming the alarm would set it off also :-(   Maybe that isn't a good idea.

Brian,

I don't think that will work.  I tried that on the bench before I ever had a bike.  Smiley  The alarm did not recognize the
signal lamp flashes (from the yellow wires) as 12V.  It may be able to tell it's an internal 12V and not the external
switched 12V.

Thank you, Mick!

I just completed your fix for the InterNatrix.  Jon from InterNatrix took the time and forwarded me the link for this thread. He remembered that I wasn't fond of the auto reset function. It appears that Jon is paying attention to our discussions. I'm really impressed with the customer service that I have received from Jon. Anyway, Mick, thanks again for such a thoughtful fix to this issue. I really enjoyed the alarm before, but now it's even better.

That's great Shannon,
I have been trading Emails with Jon since I bought the alarm.  He's going to post that tip on his
install tips one of these days.  Glad you liked it.

Thanks for the tip. Works like a charm, and much easier to get to than where I was trying to hook in (don't ask).

If you also have the brown wire connected to the accessory circuit or ignition, you need another diode on it as well, so that the KIPASS signal can't attempt to backfeed the accessory circuits.

Now if I could only get rid of that irritating reminder chirp chirp chirp everytime I turn the ignition on and off....

Fred,
I don't even hear that 3-chirp anymore. Smiley  It's a good indication for 'others' that there might
be some type of alarm on it.  Can't hurt.
My brown wire is connected via my FuzeBlock and totally isolated from the bike's harness.  Good
thought.

I'm planning on writing up a full report on the alarm as well as the GiPro ATRE after I get done testing it. Planning on taking the bike out on a mini-road trip later this week as a shake down test of everything. I installed the new model Speedo Healer last night, and I hope this to be the last electronic farkel for a while. I'll see how it all works out on the road in the next few days.

Fred,
After almost 4,000 miles on the road, the only thing I'm disappointed about with the
InterNatrix TW1000 is the battery life on the remote.  Mine died while I was out in CA
earlier this month.  Could have been an old battery and I may be happier with the new
Duracell AAA that I just installed.  Time will tell.....

Mick,

If you push down on the ignition key even without the FOB nearby, the alarm will still chirp 3 times a few seconds later. I haven't tested it, but I suspect that if the system is armed and someone walks up the bike and pushes in on the key, it will make the alarm go into full tilt alert. It appears the 12 volts shows up on this wire anytime you push on the key, even if the FOB is not present.

Actually this is probably a good thing, since it means if someone even pushes in on the key the alarm will go off.

That's correct, anytime you press the stove key down, 12V is present for 5 seconds.
Yes, if anyone presses down on the key while the alarm is armed, it will go into full alert.
I think that's kind of an added security feature.

You guys made me spend more money on my bike.  Grin Thank you for posting this fix, I was debating if I wanted to by the alarm but your fix sealed the deal. I just have to learn what a diode is and where to get one. It is nice to know that the customer service is very good with this company. This will be my first alarm on a vehicle so I am sure I will have questions to ask them. The knowledge on this site goes beyond any mechanical ability I will ever possess so thank you for sharing. I would never be able to figure that out on my own and I really didn't want it to be a pain to disarm.

Thanks again!

That's the problem with this site.  It's absolutely free but you can't help but spending money on farkles.  RickH would be a millionaire if he had a vested interest in them.

I learned that the hard way. I bought my bike in July 09 and Fuel Moto, Murphs, Phil's rack, Fred's videos, grips, alarm, shock, fork cartridges, paint job, zumo, corbin, risers ... all the vendors I have used from this site have been great to deal with. I could not ask for better service.
