What a shitty night this turned into, went to start my bike and I somehow managed to leave my ignition switch on yesterday when i parked it.  No big deal i'll pull the battery cover and jump it.  Break out the allen keys and a 1/4" ratchet, bolt won't move, son of a bitch, move up to a 3/8 bolt makes a 1/4 turn and just snaps.  At this point i have the "are you kidding me" look going on.  Get a charge into the battery, start the bike and head out.  Meet my mom to watch some fireworks and just BS, get back to her house and I am turning around and walking the bike backwards, step on something in the dark and my right foot goes out from under me, try to regain the footing but it's just too late.  Ended up gently setting it down on the right side.  Minor scuff on the potato canon, swing arm and cap, r/s lower fairing, r/f mirror and they very bottom edge of the r/s bag.  I was honestly still pissed off about the bolt breaking so the drop didn't even bother me all that much, I knew it would happen eventually so it's really no big deal, the only thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem like those kawi engine guards would really do much in the event of a drop because the lower fairing scrape was a good 3" under where those would be.  I'll get some pictures in the daylight tomorrow if the bike doesn't manager to spontaneously combust tonight.

P.s.: my wife bought me tickets to the Cubs-Red's game today at Wrigley as a birthday present and the Cubs proceeded to get and absolute pounding.  It was so bad we left during the top of the 7th just to beat traffic.

Some days, the universe tells us to stay put.
Sounds like you weren't listening Wink

Glad it didn't turn out worse, like broken bones or cracked plastic.  Scratches, like scars, are just visible experience from the sometimes harsh teacher we call reality.

If ya need me, I'll be in the garage

Every man at some point in his life is going to lose a battle. He is going to fight, and he is going to lose. But what makes him a man, is at the midst of that battle, he does not lose himself. This game is not over, this battle is not over.

I remember the same gut wrenching feeling I had when I first dropped mine. So sorry for you. I also remember my battery cover screw being freakishly tight the other day when I opened mine too.  Angry

I bent a lesser-quality allen wrench replacing my windshield the first time. How do you get such small, female bolts so tight?
