I can get a lightly modified and lightly dmgd (mostly cosmetic) 2003 SV 650 S with 4,000 miles on her for $1500. I've calculated about $400-500 to get her to be near perfect. (using e-bay prices) I was thinking getting and selling the C-14 but I just like the C-14 so much. I really do not need a 2nd bike, but think it would be fun having something so much lighter for non touring duty. Should I get the SV 650? Should I sell the C-14? Should I fix up and try to re-sell the SV (I would need to get at least $500 over my expenses to make it worthwhile. The SV has all the stock parts so I could remove and sell modified stuff and return her to stock) What's your advice?

Your asking us if you should buy another bike? I think the answer is yes. I bought an olld CB750 and modified it for my run around bike. It really is nice to have a smaller bike to just mess around on. I have just under $700 dollars into this bike. That includes the purchase price of the bike when I bought it. Sold all the stuff off from it that I didn't want to reuse. Spent a lot of time in the garage building it, but I am married and have 3 daughters, so I spend a lot of time out there any way.

You're asking this group if you shoud buy another bike to tinker with and modify in your garage? My only warning would be your plan to sell it after finishing working on it.....I feel like an underachiever with only two lightly customized/farkled bikes that are mostly stock in the drivetrain/carb/exhaust departments. Buy it, do some uncommon mods to it, post for us to marvel at, and ride the snot out of both bikes. IMHO of course

One is a constant project dual sport and one is my Connie that is only a project when I want her to be. I'm gonna say go for the second bike and keep it.

it's nice to have more than one, but they need to be somewhat diverse so they can serve different duties. The sv is far enough from the c-14 to make it a good way to go. I just downsized, cus I wasn't getting enough time on em to justify owning, but I currently have a voyager for 2 up touring and my connie for fum / single riding / fun! Steve

Should you get a second bike? NO!!! Absolutely not! Nobody should have more than one. You can't ride two at the same time, so why try? If God had wanted us to have four wheels he would have invented the car. DON'T DO IT!!!

Two bikes are twice as good as one obviously. This from a guy with 7 guitars.

Haha nice. I'm of course always looking to add to my quiver. Next bike will either be some sort of mx 2-stroke 250~300 or a KLR I think. I also didn't mention the 1978 Kawasaki KV75 2-stroke mini bike that's waiting to be restored.

YES!! Something to use at a trackday. Actually those V-twins are lots of fun for motoring around or (as I am looking for one to use) as a track bike. THE MOST FUN you can have on two wheels. DO IT.......DO IT.......DO IT. Two bikes are MUCH better than one
