An impromptu short notice COG ride in Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties with coggers @mcgyver74 and @terrynyc. We couldn’t let this awesome fall day go to waste, even if it started off quite brisk.
We followed a good portion of the heroine Sybil Luddinton’s famous ride. On the night of April 26, 1777, 16-year-old Sybil Ludington rode her horse on an impressive 40-miles to muster local militia troops in response to a British attack on Danbury, CT. Riding all night, in rain, she traveled twice the distance that Paul Revere rode during his famous midnight ride. Here is a brief article I wrote about Sybil's Ride: https://issuu.com/backroadsmagazine/docs/may2013/16
After jumping off Sybil's route in Carmel NY we rode the twisty roads around several nearby reservoirs. After that we enjoyed lunch at Blazer Pub in Purdys NY for awesome burgers and more.
