1992 Fork seals

John P

Bicycle
I just rebuilt my front fork seals (62K Mi). Would it be better to gas the forks with nitrogen to eliminate moisture from adding air?

JP, I suspect the issue is water entering past the fork seals. Water pools at the top of the fork slides and then enters past the wiper and fork seals. Its possible but I doubt it. Most folks wisely use a bicycle pump as you don't want to pop the seal on the joint tube and the volume to pump is very low.

Ok... That makes sense. You referred to the joint tube. Is that the two O rings seal assemblies that are on each tube to distrbute the air equally to each fork? Thanks again,
