I hate to say this, but my beautiful Connie is up for sale. I am 66 years old, and love this motorcycle! But, I am having trouble getting it up the driveway and into the garage now. When I rode it home, I got to know the handling, and truthfully, it wasn’t that good. It would hunt and peck all over, which was due to the Givi trunk on it, which I removed and sold to a fellow COG member.
This bike has been upgraded to become the best sport touring machine ever. I have adde a whole list of upgrades since I flew one-way to Summit, New Jersey to ride this bike home, 7 years ago. It currently has 43,300 miles on it, and runs as strong now, as it did when I got it wit 14k miles on it. I hope it goes to a good home, and a fellow enthusiast who appreciates it as much as I do.
Well, here is the list of upgrades that I have done to it, and I think that someone will appreciate these upgrades.
17” wheels and tires, front GPZ1100 rim, with a ZX6D speedo drive to correct the MPH, new Metzler Roadtec Z6 120/70-17 tire, rear Meanstreak rim with a Conti Motion 150/70-17. I was going to install a new Metzler Roadtec Z6 rear, but I will leave that to the new owner, depending on your height, I would recommend either a 160/60-17 or a 160/70-17. I have used a 170/60-17, my first tire, and that was a great tire too. The conversion uses the Meanstreak rotor, caliper and mount, milled to fit into the Connie swing arm, with a longer brake stay fabricated with 1/2” stainless schedule 40 pipe. This has over 20k miles on it, and it has proven to be an excellent upgrade.
HELI-BARS- this is a $450 new upgrade which gives total adjustability for your riding comfort.
Front Sonic 1.1kg fork springs with 20wt fork oil, really improves the handling and stability.
Rear hybrid shock, ZX9 and ZZR1200, so you get adjustable hydraulic preload, and adjustable compression and rebound damping. If you are over 250lb, I recommend a heavier rear spring be installed.
Rider foot peg lowering kit, helps on those long trips immensely!
Murph’s fork brace, also gives rock solid handling
Murph’s spin on oil filter kit, nice to be able to use modern filters!
Murph’s diamond? Cruise control just set it and rest your wrist! Great for those long trips.
Concours tank bra, saves from the dreaded belt buckle scrapes, lol.
Concours tank bag! Also great for the trips!!
Genuine Concours cover!
Front and rear tip over bars, a lifesaver! I hold the rear bar to pull it up on the center stand.
Fog lights AND driving lights, when you click these babies on, you see wall to wall on deserted roads! The switch is mounted in the upper left of the cockpit, and has an on/off switch, and a toggle for switching between the two pair of lights.
USB dual charging jacks mounted below the light switches. It had a voltage meter, but it stopped workin a few years ago.
RAM ball mount, I am keeping one of them, but will leave the other one, along with the World’s best cup holder, a Schwinn!
Rifle windshield, extended height, I can look over the top edge, or slouch a little and look through it. The Rifle brand is hands down a great quality product.
Russell Day Long seat, in gray velour and gray vinyl. Had an embroidered cross on the step between the rider and passenger saddles. This seat was over $1,000 new, and I have the waterproof cover for it also. I have a scroll plate, which I will keep, as I have a message to the world programmed into it,
“I was doomed to Hell, but Jesus set me free”
My EZ Pass turnpike device stays with me, too. It has worked very well, mounted above the instrument panel.
There is probably something else I forgot, but I think you get the photos and can see it….lol
Well, here is the price….
$2800.00
I paid $5,500 for the bike back in 2015, so with all the upgrades, and additions, this is a steal.
God bless all those who read this.
