Cabin #2 has been designated the official SW Area Command Center. So far I believe it is me, Wandrng and Denver6. Dirtwiz has inquired. That is 4 States represented CA., CO., NV., UT.. Current plans are to meet up in Jackpot NV on Thursday and then run into Kamiah on Friday. Route home is wide open for discussion. The SW Area has committed to sponsor a Breakfast Burrito cookout Sat Morn and will be accepting donations for OTP. Now full disclosure the donations for OTP may seem a bit self serving (did I mention vote for me for OTP  ;)) but I believe in the cause regardless who it is. All are welcome to jump in. If you have never ridden Northern ID you are in for a treat. Not to mention great folks. Let's show those pale rain soaked folks how the SW does it  :beerchug:

Turns out I'm going to have the week before, and the week after the bun cooler off so I have decided to go up a couple of days early and look around.
I will be at the Lewis and Clark on Thursday.  (Cabin 6)
Return trip is currently uncharted, so whatever you guys want to do.
Have a good ride up.  See you guys there.      👍

Very Cool John. C U There.  :great: We continue to amaze the NW group with our invasion tactics. Carry on SW Hordes.  :beerchug:

No Friday plans yet.  I've never ridden the area so I'll be open to suggestions from those that have.
Come on by Thursday evening. We'll all make a game plan for Friday.    👍

Mr.Hartman.....

Thinking WAY ahead to the return trip.  Do you need to be home Monday morning or just sometime before
Tuesday?        ;D

Sometime on Monday. Now mind you last time back Keith and I took a wander through WA and OR and was a great time. But that Monday was a 850 mile day. The Old Man was worked. Rear end looked like 20 lbs of chewed bubblegum  :))

Just called the west star hotel and casino. Book a ground floor room for 50 bucks instead of the 55. If you guys call in we get the discount and they say they have 2 more ground floor rooms. (775) 755-2600 Tell them you are on motorcycles and mention my name. The reviews are all over the place but we just need a pillow and shower yeah? C U there!

Here's 2 options that have popped into my deranged mind. Over Lolo into Twin Falls ID for Sun night or Mountain Home through Wild Horse to Elko NV. Both leave me in striking distance of home on Monday with some looooong slab but then..................(well from Elko isn't truly slab but) :truce: Chip in!

What's the path we're taking from Jackpot again? Up 84 and then 55 like last year? That may affect my return home vote.

Since I've done the Kamiah to Elko portion, last year with you and maybe again this year I would lean toward over Lolo and then down some interesting route to Twin Falls for the night.

I know TF is a bit farther from Hendo (7.45) than Elko to Hendo (6.5) for your Monday portion so if you need the shorter Monday ride I get it.

We can stop off and see our old friends, the Snakes.
_mg_2706.jpg

Them snakes can stay right there. Didn't like 'em and still don't. Willies. From jackpot up to twin falls and through Boise up. The lolo route is nice on the return and I am not opposed. That's just my butt talkin' I'm wide open (that didn't come out right).

I'm good with whatever you guys want for a return trip. Never been north of Nevada (Tonopah) on a bike so it's all new to me.
Pass on the snakes.  Have enough of those and scorpions here at home!

Leaving the talking butts thing alone....... :-\.            ;D ;D

Hey guys.  To all of you that have been to the bun cooler in the past. What kind of temperatures should I plan for up there?  I'm guessing nights and mornings are on the cool side?
We have had thripple digits here already in the last two months and are now averaging in the mid 90's.
I don't want to be caught off guard up there.

Thanks.

Funny thing that. I've been cold, wet, dry, sunny, snow at the top, 70's at the bottom. Sweat my ace off in Boise, freeze my ace off in Kamiah. My 1st trip up was all rain. 2nd was beautiful the whole weekend. 3rd trip up was great weather Friday and Sat and Sunday pissed cold rain all day. Come prepared for all. It's what makes the Bun Cooler the Bun Cooler.  :) And chances are you will be caught off guard  ;) Working on a return route now.

I like it!!!!    :) :).          The kitchen sink it is!    :)).  Thanks Mark.    :great:

Return is cool with me.    It'll all be new roads for me.

I am in for Lolo pass with you guys. I might be tent camping on the way up and back depending on if I stretch it out to two days to Jackpot and two days back from Twin Falls. I just can't decide if I want to to do two 700+ mile days.

I have time to think about it. But that seems to be all I am thinking about - heading up to Kamiah. Don't tell my boss - he thinks I am focused on work.  :)

Arrived back home at 10:30pm Monday. Decided to ride all the way through instead of another hotel night. And no snow on the 50 this time!
