Meet for breakfast at 8am at the Denny's just east of I 5 at exit 208 on the south end of Arlington, WA. Wheels up at 9am. Show up gassed up and ready to ride.

IN!
In the past I returned via US 97/Yakima Canyon/US12 so may do that again.
Yup, that is LONGESTER!  :great: :motonoises:

Hmmmm, I believe I'm game for this ride, pending clearance from the house maintenance project manager...

Need me to call her up and ask if Mike can come out to play?  That's how Tim made it to Cortez.

Love how the details say "Wheels up".  Everybody must Wheelie at the start of the ride!  :nananana:

It worked. I got to go to Cortez which was almost like going home since I grew up in Denver.

Is that from Arlington 530 to Rockport then how far east on 20? To three-Fingered Jack's?? Is this gonna be a testosterone fueled dash like the Valkyrie grandpas?   Since I'm coming from Vancouver Island, on a Versys, I can get an early start from the casino in Bow and do a second night there.

Hi everyone.

I've never been on a COG ride or met any of the members.
This should be interesting.

I will be riding from the Vancouver, British Columbia area, for the return trip I will be  heading north on Hwy. 97 and crossing the border near Oroville.
After the border I was going to take Hwy 3 west back to Vancouver B.C.
:)

Hi Bruce,
I look forward to meeting you.  My first COG ride was the 2009 Volcano Ride with Dan Paulsen, and after that I was hooked.  I'm guessing you'll be with us until lunch.  I need to start planning the detailed route.

Hi Bruce. I too look foreword to meeting you. If you are heading home on 97 the group stops for lunch in Chelan. It's a little out of the way but not by much. After lunch I will peel off and go N/B on 97 as well on my way home.

Charley went on the Volcano run in 09 for his first COG ride. I went to the 09 Bun Cooler on my brandy new 09 C14 for my first one and have been part of COG ever since. Hope to see you there. Tim

Greenbiker, I joined COG 4 years ago, and have ridden 20 thousand miles with them since. Nicest bunch of motorcycle riders you will ever meet! Welcome! Come ride with us. :great:

Tomorrow I get a new set of tires delivered to my house.  This weekend I'll mount and balance them, and the Longest Day ride will be the break-in.  :motonoises: :)

We'll take 530 up to 20 as mentioned, then go through Winthrop and past 3-Fingered Jack's on our way to the gas station east of town.  Then we'll head into Chelan on our way to Buddy's Place in Manson for lunch.

Buddy's in Manson comes highly recommended by a new member, Ben Getz.

I think what I'm going to do is meet up with group someplace closer to my side. I might drop in when the group gets to the rest area on top.

Tell me more about this rest area.

At the east side of Washington pass and right before you start heading down to the valley floor with the big hair pin curve there is a look out with restrooms.  There is a trail to the look out and one can get a good view of Liberty Bell mountain and the high way below. As soon as you see the valley floor and the big hair pin curve, you missed the turn off by about 500 feet or so. There are two parking lots. The lower one has really nice facilities which I have never seen open. The upper one is a smaller parking lot with the look out trail head and a unisex outhouse.

The reason I would pick this place is because there is plenty of room to sit and watch the highway. You would see me about the time I saw you. I could fall in behind. The turn out will be on the left side of the high way.  Last time I was there the road to the rest areas and look out was filled with snow with fallen trees across the road. Might be early enough to have the same. Tim

Hope to see you there as we go by, and then in my mirrors.

I plan on going west up 153 about the time you and company are going east. If I'm not at that location, we still can't miss. you will be on either 20 or 153 and since 153 runs into 20 I will meet you at some point.  Leaving at about the same time I should be at the lookout/rest area a little before you get there.

I might be taking the 900 since it runs so well with the ebay carbs. But this is another story. Still it has short legs compared to a Connie.  Tim

How often will we have to stop for gas?

Once. I'm going to stop in Carleton and pick up some alcohol free gas on the way back down. Won't matter to me if I'm the 900 or the C14. Carleton has pure premium and my 14 loves it. Not really needed but loves it. Over kill for the 900 but who cares?  :)

Have a great safe ride!! Would've loved to join but we finally decided our agenda at the last minute and heading to Mt Rainier today.

Post pics of the ride! And hope there's another COG ride again soon. BTW, anyone doing the Splash ride next month?!

I made it to the look out on top of WA pass. I sat there for 21/2 hours thinking I might have missed them when I went by a friends house in Twisp.

I learned some things.

When a big bug hits you on a nakid bike it hurts.

When a bee hits you  it stings.

The 900 was making almost 45 MPG.

Cell phones only rings after you put your helmet on.

Finally did meet up and got to visit some.

I was the one ahead.

It was hot and I got some sun burn.

While we didn't get much riding done together, I got a great ride on 200+ miles on the 900.

A good ride with a good group!
Thanks Charlie for leading the ride.
I logged 550 miles.
We were behind schedule as the traffic was slow so missed Tim at top of Washington Pass. Lovely mtn views on the Cascade Loop. Also referred to as the American Alps. Fun, Fun, Fun mtn roads. Road traffic thinned out heading down the east side and the remainder of the route.
Great tavern food at Manson near Lake Chelan. Wow that lake is huge.
It was HOT! 99 F on US 2 at Cashmere. Glad I was on the Africa Twin as the Connie traps more heat.
Here is link to ride map.

Dan, I really wanted to see your Africa Twin. I guess I'll have to wait.

Tim, it was parked just outside the tavern where we ate...
Maybe ride it to the regional?

Well I didn't get to eye ball it because I didn't know you parked it there. Besides I was working hard on getting my backside to where I had parked mine down the block.

I might have to ride the Z1 to the regional too just for grins.

Problem with that though is the big bugs hurt when hit. I took a bee just above the neck line to the Tee shirt. Seems like Bees fly stinger first.  One forgets how much a windshield is worth until you ride nakid.  Tim
