AudioVox trouble shooting question

I'm going thru the trouble shooting list for the AudioVox CCS-100. The purple wire to the brake is giving me a 9.6 volt reading when the brake pedal is released and when it's pressed. The reading isn't the 12 volts I was expecting, but I'm wondering more what is causing the 9.6 when released.

I have an Audiovox CCS-100 Schematic/Trouble Shooting Guide I can send you (pdf). No marketing here, I developed this way back when I was installing CC on friends bikes. E-mail me at bergmen-at-pacific-dot-net and I'll reply with an attachment.

I ran a needle thru the purple wire and blue (brake) wire. I tested the voltage with the ignition on and got the proper readings. So that blue box connector is not doing its job. I ordered Posi-taps (thanks, Dan!) off eBay to replace the blue boxes. I also ordered a new keypad off Murphkits, cuz I suspect having the wrecked 02 sitting out in the junkyard for a couple months (while I was healing) didn't help, and I didn't want even more delay.

Great link for really understanding installation. It's not a Concours, but the photos are great and steps very detailed and easy to follow.
