NOTE: the original 7/17/21 event was postponed due to a significant storm in the area. Review posts below after 7/16 for updates on the rescheduled date of 8/15/21

This is the annual Independence Ride for BBQ Meet & Greet... with a twist for 2021. We are changing it up by meeting up for a planned ride in Putnam and Dutchess Counties - with a bit of local Revolutionary War history - view the event page for a link to a story about Sybil's Ride.
Update: Big W BBQ has closed. The new lunch stop is Round Up BBQ in Cold Spring NY. The ride has been reworked slightly to put the lunch stop mid-way thru Sybil's Ride. See newer posts for more info.

Update: Big W BBQ has closed. (so disappointed ) I will make a new post after this ride is reworked with a new lunch meet & greet location. I still smell BBQ.

Just a bump for this event. coming up in about 2 weeks.
There are several meet up options detailed in the online description:
  1. Join one of the 2 rides headed to the muster location
  2. Meet us at the muster location
  3. Meet us at the lunch stop
Review the web page for details about the event and a link to an article about Sybil's Ride:

A printable route sheet and GPX file is available. PM or email me with questions.

Folks if you plan on coming please register or drop an email to a ride leader to let us know if you plan on joining. See you on Saturday!

Weather forecast is T-Storms and thinking of pulling the plug on this. Going to wait until this evening or possibly early morning to make the final call. Registered attendees will get an email from the calendar one way or another when the decision is made.

Folks it looks like this is a wash (no pun intended!). Possible rain is one thing but flash flood watches are in effect for the whole area where the ride is planned. This isn't the final decision yet but I'm certainly leaning that way. The 100 degree heat index doesn't look too inviting either.

Heads up - this ride has been postponed to the following day, Sunday 8/15.
The area weather is not looking great for Saturday, but Sunday is looking fine.
SAT: Mostly cloudy skies. Scattered thunderstorms during the morning. High 83F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
SUN: Sunshine and clouds mixed. High near 80F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.

An email will be sent out to registered attendees if there is a change in day.
Register online to be sure to be included on the email notification.

Sunday weather is looking to be spectacular for the ride and meet & greet tomorrow. Use the link above to register - especially if you are planning to meet for one of the rides. See you there.

Sunday weather is looking to be spectacular for the ride and meet & greet tomorrow. Use the link above to register - especially if you are planning to meet for one of the rides. If you plan to go only for the meet and greet lunch, keep in mind the arrival time at Round Up BBQ is estimated.

After two failed attempts due to storms we were presented with a fantastic day. Five of us met at the muster location close to where the Luddington homestead was and then rode our iron horses to complete half of Sybil‘s Ride. We then headed to Cold Spring NY to enjoy BBQ at Texas Roundup. After lunch a couple riders split off to head home, while the rest of us completed the loop. Then we headed into Patterson NY to pay respects at the grave site of the heroine Sybil Luddington. Read a short version about Sybil here: https://issuu.com/backroadsmagazine/docs/may2013/16
