Auxiliary brake light

Just wanted to share another option for an auxiliary brake light.  Black Oak LED makes a “Rock Light” - waterproof, shock proof etc., quite bright, and very easy to install.  I used two of these for under hood lighting on my truck (the clear version) and figured one red one would be perfect for an auxiliary brake light.

I used 1/8” Kydex to make a small mount for the light behind and under the license plate, ran the wire up to the license plate light wire, following it into the under seat area and soldered it in to the brake light and ground. These draw .35a, are $40 ($34 right now) and the red is 220 lumens.  Not obnoxious, but bright!

Looks good. Where did you tap into the wire harness and what color wires were they if you remember?

Thanks

The brake/tail light wiring is quite long, and comes out of the back of the light assembly to the right side of the ECU before it does a 180 and connects inside a dust boot between the ECU and the back of the bike.  I stripped and soldered in to the wiring between the connector and the taillight.  The ground is black with white stripe, and the brake light wire is blue.  Third (red) wire is the tail light (not used for this.)

Thanks for the info. I have seen those 2 connectors that sit side by side by the ECU and assumed it was one of them.
