Body protection for the C14

Hello,

I have SW-Motech crash bars front and back on my KLR, but obviously not the right solution for a C14.

What would be good coverage for a C14? I see axle sliders, but what about the body and fairing?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

I guess I was asking more along the lines of, "what points or positions on the C14 needed something to ensure best protection".

Trex has front and rear. There's a thread about those that is active now. There's a slider to protect the final drive from getting scuffed. Front axle slider. I think someone makes a slider that attempts to protect the upper middle fairings. Don't know if you can do that and trex at the same time. I have my doubts on that.

From others experiences, on my bike, the front lower corner of the bags will get scuffed as well as the lower and middle fairings. It's probably in the $700 range for parts excluding labor for a minor drop. I have new lids for both sides but I figured if I installed them, I would be added to the list of folks that dropped my bike. Maybe I'll buy some bag protection and install the new lids one day. I'm just not there yet.
PS Forgot the mirrors.

I installed the Top Block Racing (TBR) from Murph's and they have been great. They are pricier than others but integrate well into the sight lines of the C14. In the event that you lay it over, the Delrin that makes up the contact surface can be sanded a bit then heated with a heat gun to make it look like new. See attached photos of my install and several others use them with good results. I bought an extra pair of them and machined out part of the bottom Delrin (not shown) to mount some highway pegs on for longer rides.

Cheers!

Those look pretty good!

We have em in stock..along with sliders.

Murph
So for overall good protection, those sliders Gilbysan has, plus the swingarm slider, plus the front wheel slider would give me what I'm looking for?

I noted on the swingarm slider that only one side is needed, what about the front wheel slider - is that a both sides or one side only?

Front wheel slider takes care of both sides.. I think you will find the Top Block system gives you plenty of lean over ..

Murph

I purchased and installed the T-Rex crash bars set (front & rear) with the sliders. It was not a good experience. For the front bars to be installed, the factory motor mount bar under the engine must be replaced with one supplied with the kit. It was about 1" too short; !/2' each end to compensate for the additional length needed going through the bar mounts. The nuts to secure them went on only 1/2 way. Yikes. The supplies bolts for the rear attachments at the rear footpegs were also too short. However, the biggest problem was one rear bar was so misaligned that it was impossible to mount. It was twisted and the bolt hole was off by 1/2", and it is IMPOSSIBLE to bend these even a little bit. To their credit, T-Rex eventually replaced the piece, but not without a 'fight', multiple photos and a long letter of explanation from me. Never again. A word to the wise.

Gilbysan, could you provide photos of your machined out Delrin for highway pegs and post
