Cracked Frame at Shock

On the ZGGTR Forum there was an old discussion about crack's developing in a members C-14 frame.
In a Recall; this same crack was reported by Kawasaki on early Model ZX-14's due to overtightening of a (engine mount adjust collar/nut).

Image on page 6 shows the crack.

Recently others have joined the discussion and reported the same crack's on their C-14's...
I posted this note because this crack could be very dangerous..

Please review the discussion...

As we're a large part of the Concours Community, I'm suggesting that we all look at our bikes to see if anyone else has the same crack's?  Please check your bikes, and let us know what you find.

Ride safe, Ted

NOTE; My bike is a 2014, 14,000 miles, no cracks, suspension modified with {3/4" drop} Lowering Links..

I will be reading all your info you posted, yes my 2006 ZX14 had the frame recall done and it passed. I had seen a cracked ZX14 frame when the issue popped up.

Thanks!

It is the frame above the center stand. (Near the welds)
** Look at the images in the discussion and in the callback to see exactly what your looking for.
If cracked; It should be EZ to see from behind the center stand. (above and under the bike).

Ride safe, Ted

thanks Ted, as this popped up like 6+ months back, over there, and was taken care of very rapidly by Kaw, I found it as an isolated incident.. and din't pay much a-do over it.. it seems now it has become something of a concern, and related to the ZX1400 massive tech screen.. I think it's worthy of "spreading the need for inspections"

we need to compile some database on this, it means a great deal in the whole "long term" effect of this bike also... so take a moment, do an inspection, and report back the results... this is not a test... this is a reality check.
