Feedback on Admorelighting Kit?

There's been several threads on led headlights, specifically pathfinder. I was shocked that nobody bought the set i had out on the for sale table at the national. The only reason I haven't converted, is im extremely fond of my headlight modulator. The led headlights require a different, read more expensive, modulator than what the stock bulbs use.

I installed the Pathfinder with the upgrade. I regularly ride very early mornings in the dark to get to the mountain just as the ambient light hits. These headlights are a 1000% improvement! I can now see not just further, but also wider. My wife rides with me, on her BMW, and she was impressed at how much better she could see when we rode side by side. I am kicking myself for not doing this sooner!

My bike came with crash bars, corbin seat, and riser/pullback bars. I did the exhaust first. Then the tune. Later I had the seat rebuilt as the leather had hardened.

so you installed the kit from Admore that you linked to? confused by "with the upgrade"? what did you do in addition to the pathfinder lights?

You can get just the headlights or you can upgrade with (2) T10XM LED POSITION BULBS (optional).

He added the led city lights to the install. Sometimes called position lights. Admore makes a quality product, and ive added their turn signal, brake, running light kit to my bikes rear end. Ive also.got the givi trunk light kit.

Ok thx. I have their kit for my trunk but haven't installed it, or their strips for saddlebags that I also have, yet. My bike was purchased used and had pathfinder lights already on it with the city lights. I like the Kisan Pathblazer headlight modulator on my ZX-9R and think I may want that but I know kit is different for LED.

I now see that Kisan is out of business!

Wow, Kisan gone...thats wow I have on my c14. signal dynamics makes a headlight modulator for the c14...dont know if they have a unit.for.leds.

Hmm....why not just replace the light bulbs themselves? C14 bulbs (doing a really really quick check) look to be about $40 for the pair. I've bought LED H7s for my BMW F800GT and my Subaru Outback from Amazon. There was nothing second rate about them. And they lasted till I sold the GT and they are still in my Subaru.

Chris, if that was for me, the long answer is I love my modulator. Had one on my c10 as well, and in 21 years of riding them both I can recall 1 incident where someone pulled out on me. I cant recall the number of times they started out and stopped when they saw the modulating lights. I has thought of going to led headlight, but learned the led modulator was different from the stock headlight set up...

I'm with Konehead. I like the modulator on my ninja. May add to list of farkles. I once got pulled over for it. It was Ocean City, MD bike week. I told cop it was legal. Didn't get ticket. Now I carry copy of Federal Code of Motor Vehicle Safety Standards page that says they are legal and states can't make laws outlawing them.

Actually, it was for @CoachTony (or anyone else in general). I didn't dig into the posts, just kind of skimmed through them. It looked like Tony was buying an expensive set of lights to get LED lighting. I was just suggesting that instead of buying the expensive package, just look for the LED equivalent headlight bulb to replace your halogen bulb. It's a fraction of the cost and works well.

Would be interesting to compare 2 bikes side by side at night, 1 with cheap Amazon bulbs and 1 with more expensive bulbs like Pathfinder. Mine came with Pathfinder already installed so I didn't make decision. But in daytime, modulator for the win.

Hah. :D If I ride with anyone who has a modulator, they always go ahead of me. Why?

Two reasons. First, it is one thing to encounter a headlight modulator coming at you. It's there for a couple seconds, and then gone. Quite another to have someone's headlight constantly flickering in my mirror for hours on end. Very irritating and distracting to the rider in front.

Second, I'll let you lead. Oncoming cars, deer or whatever can impale themselves on you instead of me. It's just a survival instinct, nothing personal. ;) :D

I can understand riding with a modulator by yourself. But with a group of riders? And you're not in front, but in the middle? There's a whole bunch of other bikes they have to be blind to, before not noticing you. ("you" in general, not aimed at anyone specifically)

I've got the same feelings towards riders who ride in the daytime with their high beam on. Solo? Yes, I can understand that. In a group? Have a heart for the other riders in front of you who have to live with it for hours.

I was in a group ride earlier this summer. One guy wouldn't stay away a safe distance and was always appearing where you least expected. He was an accident waiting to happen. The other wouldn't cut his high beam when asked, but stayed right where it shined in the mirror (and eyes). I let them both go ahead. Neither had an idea that I was doing it because I thought they were jerks.

Lumens are lumens. With another bike and on another forum, myself and another member tested my ADVmonster Model 30 lights against his Denali lights. The lumen specs on the ADVmonster Model 30 lights were considerably higher than the Denali lights. A Twisted Throttle rep tried to say that lumens are not lumens and that the far more expensive Denali lights were in fact, much brighter. My friend and I took our bikes out to an empty unlit flat parking lot and put the two bikes side-by-side. It proved lumens are lumens and the cheap Model 30 lights I bought from ADVmonster on ADVRider were in fact much brighter. They also held up appearance-wise better than the Clearwater lights I got on my F800GT. I'd never spend that much money on lights, but the first owner was a retired cardiologist who had more money than he knew what to do with.

Comment on LED bulb quality...
There are cheap LED bulbs, there are Pathfinder priced LEDs and there are quality mid-priced LEDs.
There are two brands of H4 LEDs that I believe to be in that "sweet spot": Auxito & Sealight (there may be others). They both have good light patterns that won't blind on-coming traffic if you properly sim your headlights.
Sealight usually publishes Watts of an equivalent halogen, Auxito usually publishes actual wattage of their bulbs. Auxito is clearer, but Sealight's may be easier to comprehend .
Take Auxito's watts and multiply by 6 to get a conservative estimate of "halogen brightness'.
At this point, all our vehicles have LED headlights.

Yes, lumens are lumens, but where they go is important. First to not blind on-coming traffic, and second, to put them on the road where they're needed. Lumens on the tree-tops and sky (my old LEDs) are useless.
Were the LEDs you bought on Amazon branded?

Adding a couple cents.

+1 on Auxito.

Then Beamtech is another I’ve used on several peoples’ machines and mine - all good, no complaints, years of service and no failures.

The base of the Auxito is a little thicker and is a bit tough to install in some bulb holders.

Other than the note above, both models have been plug and play, no interference with other motorcycle electronics or communication devices.

They were branded. When I buy on Amazon, I look for the customer ratings, and how many ratings there are. If the product has a 5 star rating, but only 1 rating, it is worthless. These were highly rated.

I experimented in the early days with HID bulbs. Like you said they put a lot of light out...but it went everywhere but on the road. The LED bulbs mimic the halogen bulbs for where the light is focused and so they have a light pattern that mimics that of a halogen bulb in the reflectors built for halogen bulbs, but with much more light. When I installed them, I put blue tape on the garage door to mark the top of the light pattern. The LED bulbs were identical.

But I've only used them for about 150,000+ miles.

Aukee and Lysomme. Looks like there are new names now. ;) :)

Here's what I looked for, and a bit of explanation for those new to buying LED bulbs on Amazon. The screen capture is just for an example.

The rating. This one has a 4.4 rating. Not perfect, but decent. This though is more telling.

1790997668128.png

Almost all of the ratings are a 5 star. And that's with 5105 individual ratings. That's not "friends and family" ratings, but real people like us.

LED lumens on Amazon are all doubled because you get two bulbs in the package. So that's 40,000 lumens per bulb. For $11.54 a bulb.

Now, if I was serious about buying this bulb, I'd look at the 1, 2 and 3 star ratings to see if the reviewers really knew what they were talking about and have a legitimate complaint, or they are blaming the bulb for their own stupidity.

So for me, here is the bottom-line on my thinking. All these bulbs are made in the same country. China. Why then the price difference?

Because someone will pay it.
