Fuel Pump and sock...

So, at the NE fall rally I noticed that the fuel pump on my 2010 is noticeably louder then normal. Since I have not checked the filter sock yet I am suspecting it's in need of replacement. Sadly if the pump is loud it too may be on it's way out... Priced out a new one from RonAyers and had a slight sticker shock so I was wondering if anyone has ever disassembled the pump assembly and just changed the pump itself to save some money?

TIA!

It's been done. IIRC Cliff had a writeup about that on the other site.
Hmmmmmm, I don't remember doing a write up. I think that was Freddy from down under.

I checked not long ago & they're were unavailable from Kawasaki.

Yes many have done it & it's rather easy to do. Replace the pressure regulator at the same time they can/will stop up. All reasonably priced at Quantum fuel systems.

Quantum also sells a 3 pack of fuel pump sock filters for $15 vs. $13 for one of the Kawasaki OEM fuel socks ( PN 49019-0013 from Partszilla ). They look exactly like the OEM fuel socks.
