How many bikes do you own?

lieu910

Moped
I'm currently at 2, and considering a 3rd. The third bike would be kept in Chicago for use when I come visit family (every 4-6 weeks). My current bikes (GS & K16) deliver on what I need from a bike. The third, if there is to be one, would be a fun bike.

Something in the naked bike category. Ducati Monster, or the Vmax.

Any other suggestions?

I'll play. Two bikes, '15 650 Versys and '98 650 KLR.

A Naked Versys would be my suggestion, 650 or 1000. The 650 wheel base is a bit shorter. Also, Tracer GT or that 1000 Beemer like McFly just bought. Nothing wrong with that Duc, either. Happy hunting.

On TDY near Cuba.......

NM.

I am down to two! So much space in garage I can now move one bike around
without having to move everything else. I do miss the other 4 bikes ???

Well I'l play

2015 C-14 GREEN
2016 Versys 1000LT GREEN just bought it
2004 ZRX 1200r Red
2010 Z1000 black and titanium (sold pending payment)
1985 GPZ900 red not running but complete
1985 KLR250 new upper end working on it

hw wife has a 2013 Ninja 1000 Whit with flash and Yoshimura exhaust

Three right now, which is the bare minimum. A 99 steely YZ250 set up for GP so i can run track and woods and the occasional XC race. A Husqvarna 701 Enduro for all the tweener action, DS rallies, pure hooliganism and light ADV/BDR touring. C14 for riding with my more aged friends, road trips, occasional quarter mile fun and mostly used as a heavy duty sportbike. Every surface pretty well covered. I have a track only SV650 too but it's been out of commission for the better part of a decade.

Running and see regular use:

00 Kawasaki ZG1000
94 Suzuki DR350se
93 Suzuki DR350s
87 Yamaha TW200

Rescue Project in process:  (these keep following me home for some strange reason)
79 Honda CX500 Custom

Rescue Projects on deck (or future Parts Bikes):
82 Honda GL1100
84 Honda VF1100 Magna

Parts Bikes:
94 Kawasaki ZG1000
99 Kawasaki ZG1000

I own three.  Well four technically.  Forgot the 1982 GS1100G parts bike.
1982 GS1100GK
1983 GL650I Interstate
2005 ZG1000 Concours
I've been riding my son's C14 quite a bit lately. I also hop on my son's 1987 ZG1000 with ZX9 forks and 17" wheels front and back, from time to time.  I should have never gotten on that C14.  I'm probably gonna end up owning that one in the future.

4 that run and two that dont.
2017 Ducati Multistrada 950
2015 Yamaha YZF R3 mostly track days
2009 Kawasaki KLX 250S dual sport
2009 Kawasaki Concours 14 with blown motor parts bike
2008 Kawasaki Concours 14 sport touring ride
1974 Yamaha TY250 Trials in pieces

Never met a motorcycle I didn't like!
Running:
1988 Kawasaki ZG1000
2018 Honda GL1800
1984 Honda GL1200
1998 HD 883 Sportster
1995 Honda CB250
1969 Honda CB160

1971 Honda SL70
1966 Bridgestone 90
1972 Honda Z50

1971 Honda CB100

Not currently running, but complete:
1967 Honda CL300
1966 Honda C300
1975 Honda GL1000

Two . 2014 Yamaha FZ09 & 2015 Concours14 in Chicago. I may buy a bike to ride & keep in Arizona as I intend to winter there. This maybe easier than shipping a bike there and back yearly.

Hodaka 100B
Hodaka Dirt Squirt
Moto Morini 500 V
Norton 650SS Featherbed
Dunstall Norton
Norton 750 Roadster
Norton 750 FastBack

Sounds good aye?????? Not so fast........

How many can run the road right now, today?
Two

How many could run the road after lots of money and time.
All

How many ever will run again? Pray for them one and all.

Do I luv them running or even not?
You betcha!

Hell I still luv the ones that got away too!

10.

all run but one, which is the grom and i broke a rod in it, new motor coming for it, but its an lt250r quad motor .. thats right, 2 stroke.

list:
c10
cb1100
70r5
72t500(needs crank seal but runs and rides fine)
74 lc hybrid rd350
74? lightweight rd350 . (245 lbs ready to ride)
14 honda grom undergoing motor transplant
67 kawi C2tr
70 yamaha Hs1
71 g3ss with cr85 motor and full race fairing.

+ 5 cars, 3 which are vintage.

all plated, insured, ready to go (except grom as mentioned)

;D

ive owned many, many more but 10 seems manageable and i like my small bores by choice.  :motonoises:

I currently have 4:

2012 Honda GL1800 Goldwing (It's my wife's bike; I'm just the driver)
2014 Kawasaki Versys 650 ABS (my 1-up rider/tourning bike)
2017 Kawasaki Versys X-300 (my ADV bike)
1969 Honda CT90 trail bike (not running, project for the winter)

recently, my gf was looking up plans & listings for garage houses, she was particularly interested in a 16 bay one with the house above it.  Bit ridiculous  :rotflmao:  but i do see a 4-6 bay one possibly in the future. (i'm a lucky guy that way, she gets 'the disease').

Only one... have owned two when I was commuting 35-40K a year on them; one bike (C10), one boat (sail), couple of airplane projects -- none getting done very fast, so I got the C10 for a manageable pastime for instant gratification -- so far so good...

for your third naked bikes rule! Kawi Z-1000, FZ/MT-09, that yammie triple is a hoot, unless you are stuck on those exotic finicky brands... :))

I've got 3. An 02 C10 which I keep in FL for my use in the winter. In NY I've got my baby- an 06 C10 with 133K which I bought new and an03 Suzuki DRZ400 dual sport so I can relive my racing days of yore.

Tom Taylor COG#7173      P.S. See Y'all at the National.

at one point, 11..
sadly now down to 3... well, not sad about them, just all the ones I sold... my sig line shows a few. minus COGZilla.

all in all; 27 iirc. I regret every one i sold.

I am up to four, plus my son's one I can ride.

1982 GPZ 550 just for fun and nostalgia
1999 C-10 our main ride
2005 C-10 the wife said we needed a spare
2013 Versys 650 commute to work bike

My son has a 2003 Vulcan 750.

Gone but not forgotten  are a 1978 HD 125. Traded for a 1980 new KZ 550. 27,000 miles later traded for a new1982 KZ 550. 85,000 miles I gave it to my brother in law in 1993. He gave me a 1993 Vulcan 750 in 2003. I sold that one in 2017 after I got the Versys. I went 10 years without a bike not a good time.

How many bikes do you need?
Answer : (1 more than you have now. )

I'm holding at four.  Garage is full.

2010 Concours 1400, 28k miles, flashed by Shoodaben, PATHFINDER LED's, Clearwater LED's on the fork legs, Sargent seat, I ride this one the most.
2002 Honda ST1100, 28K miles, Sargent seat.  Love this bike and can't part with it. Ride it weekly
1998 Honda VFR800, 45k miles, Installed a A&A Performance Supercharger about 6 yrs ago, still in perfect condition. Try to take it out for a spin every week.
1975 Honda CB125S, Just 4.5k on this garage princess.  This has been a on going restoration project.  All done now and it's in showroom condition now.  Only ride this a few times a year. It's got a 6V electrical system, kick start.  I get more people stopping me to talk about this bike than any of the others.  This bike was so many riders first bike.

Ride safe everyone... ;)

Three at the moment. :) My 74' Honda CB550 Four is still being built. It will be a mild cafe build with great suspension and a comfortable riding position. I am currently sanding the first coat of black on the frame. I am maybe halfway done with the bike. I should be done with it by next spring. :great:

To expand on what Ranger Jim said, I've always been told that the optimal number of motorcyles to own is given by the expression:

N opt = N + 1

where N equals the number presently owned.

Two. 75 Z1B 900 and 09 ZG1400. If I could figure out how to sneak it by the wife a I think a H2 triple would be fun to restore.

Hi Jacquelyn.  Since you mentioned the Ducati Monster....I will chime in.

One of the bikes under my guardianship is a 2001 M900 S4.  First year Ducati put the liquid cooled, 8 valve, 916 L-twin motor in that chassis.  It is a riot of a bike.  I will say it is very compact, light, and I would describe it as requiring attention to ride.....it falls into corners at the slightest of leans and the front lifts with just the slightest effort.  Please don't let that put you off as it is a honey of a machine, has tons of character, makes me smile whenever I start it (Termi's are a must on a Duc), and people seem to absolutely love it.

Have fun hunting for the right bike!

my turn my turn

TWO TOO

2009 C14 (obviously)
2007 ZX10r trackbike

these are my 7th & 8th bikes so far...
3 x CBR 6's
2 x Yammies (YZF600r & R6)
1 x Suz SV650 (trackbike)
2 Kawis

life aint too bad...    :great:

Currently three (and that seems to be one too many)
2013 HD Ultra - Two up touring is it's primary function
2014 BMW GS - This bike is what replaced my C-10 / KLR Combination.  Not as comforatable as I would like, so not sure what the future holds for this bike
1971 BMW R60/5 - This was a recent opportunity that I was not expecting, but couldn't pass up.  I just recently got it running again, and I need to sort out a few items, but hoping this will be a goofing around town and riding to vintage events kind of bike.

The times before that I had three, it always seemed to be one bike too many, and maintenance / riding never was happening at the level that I wanted.  Primarily this was a trade off between the C-10 and KLR, and one always seemed to be needing something worked on....

One 2008 C-14 and a 1986 Yamaha FZR 400 Genesis Japan import that is just about ready for the road.

Sold the C10 so down to 1 and maybe 1/4 the project. However looking hard at an  FXDR to fulfill my alter ego , kinda like to have a polar opposite to the C-14.

Besides my Connie I have a Honda Metropolitan II "step through" and a 74 Suzuki 185 two stroke that I keep down at the farm.

Wow, some impressive machines on here. Did you decide on your next bike Jacquelyn?

I currently have 5; 2004 FJR, '97 C10, '82 XS650, '80 XS11, and my first bike, a '74 DT250.  None of them run right now, and pretty sure all will be for sale next year.  My wife has 3, '78 KZ200, 2009 FZ6, and a 2019 Z400. She, however, will be keeping her bikes!

I have a 2019 HD Road King.  I bought that one new at the end of April and I have a little over 12,500 miles on it already.

Just picked up my Concours a few weeks ago.  (This is the second time I've owned a C14, and I always regretted selling my first one years ago.)  Looking forward to putting some miles on the Connie.

In addition to 2010 Connie I have a 74 hot rodded Z1.  Built a cafe 900 out of my collection of parts for my son and have enough for another KZ project.Looking at a KLR or Versys but never pull the trigger. Classic iron always gets me interested.

Two, a 1999 C10 & a 1999 Harley Electra glide classics. C10 is my favorite, hands down. Wish I had a select few-of the ones I have owned over the 60 years of riding. :'(

Like 4bikes, what do you count as "bikes"?  If its bicycles, i have 7.  :) If it's motor-bikes, only 1 at the moment. Need to part with a few of my racing road bicycles, TT bicycle and mtn bicycle to maybe get another motor style. Heck one of my carbon fiber bicycles can definitely equal a good C14 or equivalent!  >:D

Two, C10 & C14. Would love to add a ZX14R to the stable, but in my current physical condition it would cripple me.
Maybe one day. Would also love to have a WingThing and a big Trail bike, maybe a KTM1290 or similar.
All I need is the money and a bigger garage.  :motonoises: :great:

Only 3.  :motonoises:
2003 HD SuperGlide; ported, polished, milled (10.25:1) heads by Silver Bullet, Andrews 37 cams, 95 ci, ProPipe 2-1 header, new style tensioners
2015 Versys V1K
2009 Concours 14: Full Area P w/Steve's Mountain Runner flash.

Stared the year with five (Should never have sold the ZRX) but now I'm at four bikes in my name.  The C14 and Z900RS are the ones that I ride and the 500 and 250 Ninjas were bought for my kids but I end up servicing and riding them while they are away at college.  Eventually, the kids will have those bikes put in their names when they graduate, just like I did for their two older siblings.

Didn’t go out and count but 16 Concours, 16 BMWS1000rr, 03 CBR 1100xx, 16 Yamaha R1 for track days, 07 Yamaha R6 super sport spec race bike, another 03 CBR1100xx stored elsewhere, half own 07 KTM 525 EXC, 17 KTM 450 sxf, 15 built Kawasaki KX450f, 03 XR650R, two mint trail 70’s (one 1970, one 1981) 06 Yamaha TTR125, 19 Honda Monkey, 00 XR50r (sons first bike). All in perfect working condition and can’t manage to part with any of them. I’m sure I’ll end up with more before long. I use them all throughout the year.

I have 3 Bikes. A Giant Defy alum. frame carbon forks for the road. A Univaga 6.3 hard tail MTB I’ve converted to a Hybrid (on/off trail) and a Iron Horse Sinister full suspension Mountain Bike. 😁

9 now.
69 Suz TS 250, 73 Suz T500 both added this year for Angry Bees and Tiddler rides. Both run
'03 C12 Kaw Concours with ZRX 1200 engine/forks brakes upgrades. 'Couldabeen'
16 Honda Africa Twin tho maybe rider aging out for ADV rides.
85 Honda V65 Sabre very good condition
06 HD VRSCR Street Rod. Yes they DID make a HD I like!
78 Yamaha XS650 std and 78 BMW R60/7 both waiting to be back on the road.

Let's see... the C10 morphed into a C14 a while back, I have one that you pedal around the neighborhood, and another that you pedal but doesn't go anywhere...  ::)

I am sure i have answered before, but now i have a new answer

the beloved 09 C14 is still underneath me.  and after an extensive once over by the local shop, it is reborn with a valve job, brake job, new fluids top to bottom/front to back, head-oil-leak fixed (no smoke on start up), and new Q3+ tires...this thing has me falling in love all over again

and behind curtain number 2...a wonderfully blue 07 ZX10r that is my new trackbike.  with a full titanium Leo Vince' under seat exhaust system, cloth-tape wrapped headers, Q3+s, double-bubble wind screen, and pushing a nicely sounding 168hp...

after years of running 600s, mid-wght twins, and such at the track, this is my first superbike...albeit a couple generations older

but then again, so am i...a couple generations older... ;)

All dem bikes an no 2 smokes..... I think you need some 927 in your life.  :beerchug:

Was 3, now 4.....

'86 Connie (salvage)
'95 Connie
'02 KLR
'67 Honda CL77 Scrambler as of a few days ago

I'd love to have a Yamaha DT-1 2 smoke, but decent ones are getting rare and they're commanding top bux, at least around here they are.

I'm at 9 bikes. Retired and that's what keep my sanity. 2 Harley's , 1 Conny (1999) and 6 BMW's. Running out of space in my shop! I tell my wife it's tough to get the bike I want to ride out from behind the others and all she says is "poor you"..., Then I shut up!!!. Love the 19999 Concourse, my latest acquisition.

Currently 3, all running and in excellent condition:
1978 BMW R80/7 with a full luftmeister fairing and Michelin Pilot Activ tires.
1990 BMW K75 RT with a full fairing Avon Road Rider tires.
2014 C-14 Black( the fastest color) with a Michelin Power pilot on front and RS2 on the rear.
I bought the Connie in June 19 because I wanted ABS Traction control, a modern powerful super sport bike.
Got a Steve flash, RDL saddle, bar backs CeeBailey large windscreen. The Connie is bad A$$!!
Nick

No. The heading says 'bikes' - that implies 2 wheels. Maybe you're starting a collection of 'ikes'

2009 1400GTR
2009 Can-Am Spyder
1995 Triumph Thunderbird900
1992 1000GTR
1970 Yamaha AS3-125twin

Two, 2008 C14 Truly the fastest color! And a 2018 Gold Wing Tour DCT Pearl White also the fastest non-color! Both fantastic motorcycles! Both very fun to ride.

Never had more than 2 at any given time.
09 ultra classic and C14
then C14 and Honda Valkyrie
now just C14 looking at a BMW...

As for your fun bike go for a Vmax 1993-2008 most fun you can have with your clothes on...

Four bikes in the garage:
'01 C-10 that needs to be put back together
'04 Honda CBR F4i
'05 FJR ABS - will be sold this spring
"14 FJR ES

I plan on selling the C-10 and 05 FJR. They are taking up room and I rarely ride them. I should sell the CBR - not the best ergo set up for my 68 year old body. Plus, it's a ticket magnet. It's no fun until you get over 6000 rpms. By then, there's usually flashing blue and red lights behind me. Been thinking about an adventure bike. Maybe a Yamaha T7 or the new KLR. That however, may be a bad decision for my body. Between the blood thinners and oral cancer meds, I should not go riding in the dirt. I bruise badly and don't know how or why. A hard crash for me would probably be fatal. Still, I can't get an adventure bike out of my mind. Some guys never learn.

My wife thinks I should get my totals down to one bike, but that's not going to happen. I guess I'm not growing up, just getting older. No one gets out alive, so live hard, go fast and take chances. So far it's worked for me. Besides, who wants to die from cancer. That sounds a waste of good life experiences to me.

Not sure who owns who sometimes. I'm also someone with both ICE and leg powered "bikes".

Enginized:
2003 Kawasaki ZG-1000 "Mabel, the Flying Kaw"
2007 Suzuki DL-650 Wee-Strom "The Silver Surfer"

Humanized:
TREK 400 Road bike "The Warhorse"
TREK Mountain bike - very first generation front shock fork "The Red Menace"
Miyata 1000 LT "Touring" bike "Matilda"

No one gets out alive, so live hard, go fast and take chances. So far it's worked for me. Besides, who wants to die from cancer. That sounds a waste of good life experiences to me.
Sound Advice; love the positive attitude Cookie!

Enjoy today to the fullest - tomorrow is guaranteed to nobody.

Got my second one this winter... Sweet deal on a 2006 Electra-Glide, it's going to sit by my 2012 C14. I am keeping an eye out for a used 650 V-Strom to round up the lot and have something for light dirt use.

The Japanese and American bikes play well together. And yep, they're both farkled to the max.

Up here, in the Great White North, lots of people own the sport and the custom. I am blessed to have a shop that maintain both properly.

With good maintenance, the sky's (and the wallet's) the limit!

With the exception of perhaps an extra bike purely for dirt and/or track days, I am convinced that owning anything more than 1 bike is evidence of an inability to commit to longterm relationships and a failure to make good choices for owning the proper bike in the first place!

(Note that I may revise this position once my son get his bike out my dang garage and there is room for a complement to my current wisely chosen, longterm MC relationship.)

Bob
it's a kz750b twin, no kz650b. I never had a 650. It's a missing link in my collection :(.
Your's is a beauty.
Lucky grandpa my daughter is 12 and don't care my Kawasakis. I'm 58 now and hope to finish my Kawis when work ends and freedom begins 😁

I'm sorry Bruno,

I jumped the gun on ya.... I get excited about anything with "KZ and 70s" in it's name. :giggle:

I also have 77KZ650 Custom project bike....... I'm slowly collecting parts to finish it.
If my grandson maintains interest I'll likely make that one his.

Best Regards
Bob

I forgot I had a 650sr I sold last year. Here in Austria no one seems to like this bikes.
I only got 750 Euro. Not running but original paint and exhaust.
Keep the Kz650b its amazing

Best regards
Bruno
