Re-installed the Honda Car incandescent bulbs I'd been using for years.  Much, much better, although they will take a little more wattage from the bikes electrical system.  At 43 Cp,each, I haven't found anything that comes close on intensity (an 1157 bulb is approx. 32 Cp)

Well for a taillight bulb, you want all the LED's pointing out, not to the sides. the tech is available to do that, why depend on the reflector? You could get 20+ led's surface mounted facing straight out, if someone were to make it.

LED's in 1157/1056, etc, are right on the edge of being output-competitive with incandescent. They ARE out there, but the good ones are in the minority still, so it's trial and error, or know someone who's done the work.

I have replaced all of the bulbs on my C10 with LEDs, EXCEPT the front turns and rear tail/brake lights. 

The brake lights I tried didn't have enough variance between tail and brake for my liking.  I have found some others but haven't ordered them yet.

The front turn bulbs I tried had some kind of cross-talk between the driving light and turn circuit and didn't function properly.  I am going to try some LED Switchback bulbs next.

When I get everything working correctly I will post info on my conversion.

I have completed my LED bulb conversion.  I'm not going to argue the merits of switching to LED bulbs, it is just something I wanted to do and have done on all of my vehicles.  Below is a list of the bulbs I used and their sources in case anyone is wants the information.


Headlight

This one does not have a fan.  It is very bright, brighter than a halogen H4 and has a whiter color.  I was able to fit the stock rubber boot over the bulb after removing the tabbed plate from the bulb and removing the center material from the boot.

Brake/Tail Lights

It was difficult to find brake/tail lights that had a significant difference between tail and brake illumination levels.  The comparison video these guys did sold me on them.  They are more expensive than others, but these work.  I don't have any brake/tail comparisons, you can see the difference in the video and my experience is the same.

Front Running/Turn Lights

I got the same bulbs as the brake/tail lights, but yellow.  Great difference between running and turn brightness.  They work in both blinker and hazard mode.

Rear Turn Signals

4 was the minimum quantity I could find.  They work well and are slightly brighter than the incandescent bulbs.

You need an electronic flasher relay for LED bulbs.  This one is plug and play.  It even mounts to the stock location.

License Plate Light

They didn't sell just one.  This one is very bright and is short enough to fit in the little bubble housing.

These had no problem fitting into the sockets and are significantly brighter than the stock bulbs.

It is hard to tell from these photos, but there is a very significant difference between the running and brake light brightness.  Watch the video I linked above.

It isn't that much to take apart.  Remove windshield, remove fairing pockets, remove instrument panel surround, then two bolts and the speedo cable to take the instruments off. 

I think it can be done without removing the windshield and fairing pockets, if you have an older C10.  But on the 94-up (I think) there's a screw behind the windshield that you have to remove.  If you don't have that screw, take the two top screws out of the windshield on each side, and the screw (1 each side) under the hinge in the fairing pockets, and the dash surround can be removed with a bit of pulling and bending.

It's pretty straightforward removing the instrument cluster.  On my 02 I did just what Jon said: pockets, windshield, cluster surround, then two bolts and speedo cable.

Quick Update:

The LED license plate bulb I used fell apart due to all the vibration in the tail.  It is basically held together by the solder joints, and they cracked.  Luckily, I had to order 2 bulbs when I bought it.  I added some glue to the second one to strengthen it.  Hopefully this one holds up.

I listed the superbrightleds.com part numbers for what I installed in parentheses.

• 1 - Neutral (WLED-G-90 Green)
• 1 - Oil Pressure (WLED-R6 Red)
• 1 - High Beam (WLED-B-90 Blue)
• 1 - Clock (74-GHP Green)
• 4 - General illumination (WLED-G5 Green)

You'll definitely want colored for the indicator lights.

For the four that are lighting the dials and the rest of the cluster, white or colored depending on your preference. Some have used blue lights; I found I liked the green better than the blue.
