Lowering pegs.

These are the lowering pegs that I had mentioned in a previous thread. I have to pronate my right foot to use the brake. Not good. Are all lowering pegs like these? Not conducive with my trail-braking/friction riding technique at all.

Please advise...
Thanks,
RF G

They have to stick out a bit in order to lower the peg. The OEM peg comes straight off the mount so you can get your foot closer, as you probably know. The add on lowerers that you attach your OEM peg to are way worse. I think the ones you have are the best.

RF G, why do you have lowering pegs?
  {I think I read that your 5' - 7"}
Seems that the answer to your dilemma is to install OEM pegs...

On my bike I discovered something accidentally.
Explanation; I built/installed pegs for my wife with Rubber inserts.
The rubber part's didn't match my front pegs, so I bought matching front pegs.
The pegs I bought are Chinese pegs; cost about $15.
Anyway, after I got them, I discovered that their about 3/4" shorter than the OEM pegs.
Moves my foot in closer to the bike, and {because their shorter} their less apt to drag in the twisties...  :great:

Oh boy! Sometimes logic is like a slap in the face. So yeah, you're right. But, why you ask? Well, that 1" lower makes a difference in the aches and pains of my hips and knees (for what it's worth). Although, since this bike came with these pegs, I'm willing to return them to stock and I like your idea with the off-shore pegs. Where d'ya get them?

Thank you,
Rf G

The left one is okay. It's the right one I don't like. Maybe if I replace them with regular ones, I'll have better judgement of which ones I will like better....yanno.

Thank you...

I ordered them on Ebay. At the time, I thought for that little money it was worth a try.
Still on the bike.
Not sure you can get them anymore. I'll try to find them.

NOTE: I don't order a lot from there. Try to buy from USA.
But, had to buy some air cylinders just before the Virus.
With no planes flying out of China, the air cylinders I ordered, took 3 months to arrive.

I always got cramps when riding the ZRX. My Connie had brackets and low pegs when I bought it. It felt like I was standing up on the pegs, so this felt good....wrong. I ended up going all the way back to stock pegs and have no issues at all.

Thanks for the links, Ted. I'm gonna get rid of these pegs and return to a stock set-up. And yes, I'll look for USA built, too.

Hey Rexter. It's always good to hear from another OA'er! :beerchug:

Rear brake? Wassat for?  :rotflmao:
Mine gets used in the wet and for emergency stops and the occasional line adjustment mid-corner.
By the time the ABS kicks in on the front brake the rear wheel is pretty much airborne and useless w.r.t. stopping power.
This ain't no fat long slow cruiser with long bendy forks ya know  :great:

What you actually need is a brake lever extension.
Here is an example, but they must be available in the USA somewhere.

Either that or use AST's peg lowering brackets as they use the OEM pegs.

I found the same thing here in the US on EBay. Are the Concours and 650 levers similar? With my artificial ankle I can't get my foot on the brake lever (linked brakes were made for me) but it looks like with that extension at least I could have a chance of getting over there.

Just got to figure out if I can get that one for the 650 to fit my connie.

I believe that the ER6F brake levers have a different shaped grip part from the C14 rear brake pedals.
I know that the 08/09 has a different rear brake pedal from the 2010- but the grippy part looks the same for all year C14s.
You would probably need to modify the brake lever or the extender so that they fit each other.
Either that or else design your own extension?

I toyed with the idea of buying a used brake lever and modifying it, but I just don't use the rear brake enough to care.  :)

At this point, I think I'll return to the stock set-up as previously mentioned. That'll be a faster and easier solution to my current concern.

Concern: Customer states needs to pronate right foot to access rear brake pedal. Customer states this becomes uncomfortable in current configuration. Check and report.

Cause: After market lowering foot pegs has changed engineered designed geometry and access to right side foot controls.

Correction: Technician noted and has confirmed customer described concern. Technician suggests customer to remove after market lowering foot pegs and replace them with stock configuration. Done: Rf G

;)

OMG;; You talk like an Engineer!!  :-\

NOTE: I noticed that the Engineer Listed the causes, but the Technician did all the work.
(I kinda appreciate that is I are wuz  one). {retired}

So, did you have, and install the OEM Pegs?
Problem solved?

OMG; You work like an Engineer too...  :-\
  {Sorry; I couldn't help myself}  :rotflmao:

I may have a spare set.
  Will look.

Ride safe, Ted,

AST makes a peg lowering kit that lowers the assemblies. No mickey mouseing with the brake pedal as its all.lowered together.

As a side benefit i was also able to mount a set of phils highway pegs with the lowering kit.
