Checking interest in a Death Valley ride March or April. Could be an overnighter maybe. I'll check maps if anyones interested. Coming from the Vegas area. :49:

I'll be in the area for WARPED VIII April 12-15, should be several of us there up for a ride. >:D

I love Death Valley! I'm in. Just name the date and I will do my best to be there.
Texas Spring Campground is my favorite for tent camping.

Any suggestions for dates? 4 me has to be a Fri/Sat, Sat/Sun or Sun/Mon. Preferably out on Sat and back on Sun but open. What dates are you looking to ride Outon? Also, not setting rules but me I'm credit card camping. :) Ninja Dad you know you want to do this. Will, if we get dates nailed can we get posted on the calender?

Sounds like a winner, if the dates are good I'm in. My only hang-ups are 26 March to 4 April out of town for training, and 14 April is my moms Birthday ;D  other than that count me in for sure.

Love to go.....Last 2 weeks of March are tough for me. April looks pretty good though. Not to change the subject but is anyone going to the River Run this year?  8)  :motonoises:

OK coggers, here's what I'm thinkin' of doing. Friday April 6 coming from Vegas (15 so, 395 no, 176) and spending the night in Kernville. Back down on the 7th ( 395 no 195)through Olancha and into Death valley for Sat. Night (Stovepipe wells). Back home across the top into Amargosa/Pahrump and home on Sunday. Any Takers? Meet somewhere along the road? :motonoises:

Dang.  Sounds good, wish I were in better shape.

Probably early to think about this, but what time are you thinking of taking off on Sunday morning?  If I'm recovered enough, maybe I could ride out to Stovepipe Wells and then back to Pahrump with you.

Hey, if you stop in Pahrump for breakfast (although the timing's probably not right for you) I can meet you on the chinese dirt bike no matter what shape I'm in.
;D

I'll keep you posted Caffiene. Maybe lunch in Pahrump before we attack the hump. Looking for a leisurley ride. Under 300 miles a day. See some stuff. Take some pics. Only thing telling the time is the position of the sun. :motonoises:

I've been thinking of going to Kernville in early April from LA. It would be great to meet some other Connie riders. Maybe meet for dinner Friday or Breakfast on Saturday. Someting you may want to consider is to take the 58 from 395 to Caliente and take one of the small roads to Bodfish then on to Kernville. Its real purdy with lots of twisties and very little traffic. It might add an extra hour or so but well worth it, lunch in Tehachapi and stop at the 360 railroad turnabout, if you have not done it you should- a train every 1/2 hour or so.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tehachapi_Loop

That doesn't look bad David. Your talking about the bodfish/cailiente road? Have never been that way and means I wouldn't double over Walker pass (like the back side of the lake and that drop from Walker pass is dramatic). Is that road in good shape? Have never been that way but the map squiggles look like fun. :beerchug:

There are two main options from Caliente, about two miles down the road there is a y, one uphill to the left that takes you to elevation. It gets narrow and a little rough but for some reason we usually go that way. The way right keeps you in the canyon and the road  is well kept up, a little faster but not as many dramatic views. In October both ways were in good shape.

I'm trying to figure out a way to post a route I made in mapsource but haven't yet. It looks like the one I'm looking at keeps you in the canyon. If I can figure it out I'll attach. 8)

The high road is called  Caliente- Bodfish Road and the canyon is called Caliente  Creek Road, the split is at Fig Orchard. I really had to zoom in a couple of miles north of Caliente. Hope that helps.

I've stayed in the Stagecoach Casino in Beatty and it's clean, safe and inexpensive. Is this an all guy or are spouses going? I am probably going up via Caliente. If you decide to go that way we could meet in Tehachapi or Keene in the afternoon.

David

Thanks D. Were looking at the stagecoach now. I'm bringing the counterweight. My own personal traction control and throttle by wire. Have the bruises on my back to prove it. :)) Looking to leave Vegas area Fri by 8 or 9. 4 hrs out so around noon or 1 would work. PM me and I'll send over contact #.

I have made arrangements for Kernville and Beatty. I believe my wife and I can meet you in Tehachapi at 2:00. We will have eaten but can meet you at a restaurant if you want. There is a historic country dinner across from the train station that is convenient.

Got your PM D. Outstanding. Have been thru tehachapi before but never been on these roads up to Kernville. Maybe hooking up with another rider in 4 corners (Kramer Junction) or Mohave first. Sounds like a good lunch stop and will take your advice on the best way to Bodfish. Looking forward to it. 8)

My wife and I would love to join you guys too! Just need to clear days from Work to go. Too soon to say "yes" yet, but we will try. My wife will probably drive her Kawa 900 Vulcan along with my Concours. We will go ahead and make reservations in Kernville and Beatty too, just to be on the safe side. We will meet you too at 2pm.  8)  :motonoises:

The more the better. So I suggest we meet at Kelsy's Restaurant 110 W Tehachapi Blvd with a target to leave around 2:00. If that's an issue we can move the time. I would suggest making the First stop at the Tehachapi Loop and just spend enough time to watch a portion of a train go through.

Would love to join you for this, but two weekends in a row is a little much given the work schedule,   and I'm already committed to WARPED in Kernville the following weekend. Enjoy!

Found this on the other site, the weather in the Valley looked great compared to L.A. Can't wait!
I like the doggy seat, but I don't think the wife will give up the bag for the dog on the April trip to D.V.

Hello,

Ran accross this today and by the looks of it just in time.  I will do some checking and see if I can get out there with all of you.  I have an experienced rider course to attend on the 5th here at Nellis and dont know if I can swing being out of the office both Thurs and Fri - Gonna try!!

I am sorry I have family coming from Chicago for Easter break so my wife and I will not be able to go. I have been reading the comments that have been coming up and I know all are excited. Have a safe fun ride!  :'(  :motonoises:

Mostly packed and the bike is topped off and ready. The forecast is for perfect riding weather!

Sometime Sun afternoon Caffiene man. Tell me where and I'll tell you when.

How about Wulfys, the bar/restaurant by the Best Western on 160 in Pahrump.  Decent food and easy to find.
Just south of the intersection of 372.

CM, we have a new to the area joining up in Beatty. We're going to take him down through Shoshone and Baker. Get that wing healed up and we'll hook up at the top of the hump. See you soon. :beerchug:

Cool, have fun guys!

I'm putting Heli bars on and if I can find a position that doesn't hurt, I should be riding soon!

Great ride! Gotta remember that the more spirited the ride the quicker the rubber disapears. From no wear bars showing to no tread showing took something like two hours. From Beatty, NV to Trona, CA there didn't seem to be much difference (going the speed limit). But 20 miles to Ridgecrest, CA large sections of metal was showimg. On Easter Sunday John from Ridgecrest Motorcycle Co. picked up his cell and agreed to come in and resue me with a tire. With only a half hour delay Debra and I were on the road again. Nice meeting you Mark and Christy, Kim, and Kevin!
By the way he only had an Avon Storm 180/55/17. It felt great but I havn't heard of anyone using them. Should I be concerned? I' ll post something in the tire section.

Glad you made it OK David. Was Debra hanging in there? Did she enjoy Trona? I'll pass that word to Kim and the next time through Ridgecrest We'll stop in and say thanks to John. It's good to have friends on the road. It was great meeting all of you and riding with you. Thanks for showing us some roads we'd never seen. I'll post up a ride report with pic's in the next few day's. From what I've heard some folks love those storms. Did John have any comments on how fast that tire dropped off? :beerchug:
