MC Show

Coming up from December 16th to the 18th is the Cycle World  Motorcycle Show. The lunch meet is at noon on saturday the 17th. What I would like to know if staying at Sluggers is fine or should we change. The Hawk's Nest is nearby, menu is similar and the place is all on the 1st floor and larger. The Elysian is also nearby and is large, more upscale in price and menu and have that pesky gratuity crap. Other suggestions? Hales is super crowded and McCrory's is probably the same. Any bets on snow this year?

Maybe the Hawk's Nest will give us more than one server.  It takes a long time to place an order at Sluggers if you're on the wrong side of the room.

Maybe early arrivals should order bfore everbody shows up may help. www.hawksnestbar.com Check it out in the next couple of days. It needs to be posted soon to get it in the newsletter. I'm fine with either and Sluggers is happy for the business. We would be in the general area, which is larger in the Hawks Nest. Anybody that has been there chime in.

Just my 2 cents. I found Sluggers hard to socialize in last year. Being my first COG event I had hoped to meet members from around the NW, but I when I got there things had already started and seating was limited.
I think meeting at a place that could accommodate the same size group, but also allow for some introductions would be nice.

I just spent Saturday afternoon cruising around the area of the events center, and there's not much open on days there are no games going on.  The Hawk's Nest was locked up tight, and they don't answer the phone when I call.  I checked out another place on the north end of the big parking lot, and it too, was closed.  The only other place I know of within easy walking distance is the Pyramid Ale House, and that place is jammed.  I don't think we could get seating all together in there.  It looks like Slugger's wins by default.

NEWSFLASH!!!  ALIENS HAVE EATEN CENTURY LINK FIELD!! FILM AT 11!!

OK, the CLink is still there, but since the show is at the Convention Center this year lunch will be at Von's Roast House, 619 Pine Street, Seattle.

Brady mentions something important, though.  New members are often overlooked at events like this.  I know, because it was just a few years ago I was a new member attending my first lunch at the show.  To that end, I would like to invite any and all new members to seek me out and sit at my table.  We can get to know a little about each other, and I'll see how many lies I can tell about the old members. :nananana:  Perhaps the knowledge of me telling bald-faced lies about them will encourage them to stop by the table, introduce themselves and spend some time setting the record straight. :rotflmao:
So, just to make sure there's no confusion, lunch at Von's at 12:00pm, Saturday, December 17th, 2011.

News flash!  The show isn't going to be at Century Link this year.  The show will be in the convention center over by Westlake Center.  A restaurant to eat in is being searched for.  More to come.........Or precede, in this case.

Keeping in mind that the only constant is change,This years MC Expo is being held at in downtown Seattle at the convention center is on the corner of 8th and Pike.  Yes it's a big corner.

If we plan on having our annual lunch we need to decide and pretty darn quickly. To get the ball rolling I submit some possible locations for MC Expo luncheon. I used Yelp.com in my search filtering by Downtown Seattle, cheap, and good for groups. I tried it once using burgers as additional filter and once without burgers as a filter.

Submitted for your approval, arranged in order by distance from the Convention Center with links to websites when available:

820 Pike Asian Cuisine on Pike between 8th and 9th (accross the street from the MC show)

The Cheesecake Factory  on 7th and Pike.  http://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/media/menus/TCF_Takeout_Seattle_0811.pdf

I used to live in Downtown Seattle and knew of all the hip happening cheap and cool spots but alas, I got married and moved to the burbs a decade ago.  My life ,as I once knew it, has changed forever.

I am not married to any of the places I suggested and used Yelp.com in my search. Feel free to suggest any place or places you think would be good.

Usually we publish the location and date in the newsletter but the NL goes to the printer today.  Not everyone has internet access so we will have to bring those individuals, who are off the grid,  up to speed by telephone, carrier pigeon, smoke signals, semaphores or snail mail once the group decides.

Looks good to me, I'll trust Charlie, post it. Now to find free parking, I have my spots in Sodo. They have a T-shirt and admission package, I'll take an XL. Do you think those cheapo's will go for it?

I'm riding to the show for free parking  :)

Heck free parking and I'll volunteer to due my duty at the club booth so free admission.  A short 2 block walk to grub and shoot the breeze with other COGer' will do just fine.

It's time for me to get a list going, so everybody who wants to work the show needs to let me know.  Send an e-mail to nwad@cog-online.org to let me know if you want a free ticket to get in.  That's all they'll give us is free tickets.  They've watched us for too long, and our "frugality" has rubbed off on them, so they ain't givin' up any free laundry.  I won't schedule anybody to be working during the lunch hour Saturday, so don't worry about being stuck at the show while the rest of us yuk it up at Von's.  I just ate there today, and it was good food.
