Hey all, mostly a lurker, but I got Steve's latest flash and wanted to share my experience. No surprise, but it's amazing. First of all, Steve was easy to work with. We had a short chat on the phone about my riding and what I was expecting. He asked a few questions and made the suggestion for this flash. I was going to do the mountain runner, but I always use premium so I went with the newest addition. I had the ECU back in less than a week, and I even had him hold it a few days while I was out of town.
The flash is awesome. It's like a different bike. The additional power is great, but the controllability is the better gain for me. Smooth, predictable power. Engine braking coming off the throttle at high rpm is crazy smooth. I always felt like the engine braking was too much, then coming back on the throttle was.....too much. The bike was fast, but twitchy, and always seemed to take a lot of finesse to ride well on twisty roads. I've only put a tank full of gas thru it, but I could tell just pulling out of the driveway low end power was different. 200+ miles later and I'm completely sold.
Anyway, I've got a lot of useful info here (Phils rack and adjustable arms, cheap extended warranty, maintenance tips) and wanted to maybe add something useful myself. If you've been thinking about the flash, I'd do it. I'm not sure about mileage, but if you want smooth throttle control, especially during that initial addition of throttle, this really works. I think it'll be better for two up riding, and the extra torque is better for slow speed stuff, or at speed on the highway. I'm really happy with it. Oh, and 2nd and 3rd gear roll-ons are a hoot. Actually 2nd gear is :-\ and gets chewed up pretty quick, but 3rd made me laugh like a maniac. So much fun! Thanks Steve!
Cheers everyone! The rain has ended, let the riding begin! :great:
