Nevada rally?

I will possibly be buying a fair amount land in the foothills south of Reno. Would that be a good location for a rally? Would have water, maybe electricity. Just throwing it out for blue sky.

There is good riding near Reno,if the waether is good,Tahoe is close,Mount Rose  highway would be fun and even Highway20 through the Feather River Canyon is only a couple hours away, I could make a rally that close to home.

Depending how many hours riding time people like

Virginia City roads, Mt Rose, Donner Lake, Northern 89 and 49 East Lake Tahoe and South 89 Monitor Pass, Hwy 70
and all the central Sierra Passes - 88, 4, 108 and even 120.  The number of awesome roads is nearly unlimited.

Plenty of things to see and do within an hour of Reno - Sierras, many lakes, Tahoe, Reno, Virginia City

One of the hardest things about a rally in the Reno/Tahoe area is finding affordable accommodations for a group.  With that covered it's nearly a perfect place for a rally in my opinion.

If a rally could be held mid-week rather than on a weekend, the casino resorts are very cooperative. Our annual golf tournament got great room deals, hosted bar parties and more from the Peppermill and Atlantis.

I'd need experienced assistance, as I think only in terms of camping. Going to build a huge garage and solar, wind, well, not much else there.

We can help JR. Keep us posted. The Sierra Nevada range has awesome riding roads and outstanding dual sport stuff. Heading east has some great history with the pony express, steam trains and mining. Staying out of downtown Reno traffic and as mentioned weekend requirements put a damper on plans. We've been working over ski resorts for off season pricing but the Hiking/Mountain Biking crowd has us beat so far. A camping weekend may be fun and a new experience for some.

You going to get a plot big enough to zone as a campground? We could set up a moto only campground with cabins or bunkhouse.

Where are you looking in relation to Reno and Carson City?

Had enough of the gypsy life?

Nope. But must have a legal address. My old buddy Jones and I been planning to buy this land for a few years. He won't move there right away. There is a slight ridge dividing it, so we don't have to look at each other.

I love the Life, can't see leaving it anytime soon.

The land is big enough it has a slight ridge down the center, so Jones gets one side and I get the other. He'd probably be good with a campground. But if I do it, will truly be 3 wheels or less only. No trailer queens or RVs.

EDIT: You gave me an idea, though! Jones is a great hunter. He might want to run Mule Deer hunts out of there. Would be a few extra duckets for him. He'd be ATV-bound, his agent orange crap is catching up with him now. Was in hospital with fluid in his lungs last week. I'm going out of my mind not being there.

Second the riding suggestions.  Fourth of July there is a perfect time to ride!  I lived in Reno for 5 years.  The riding is kind of a tease.  Great for 6 months out of the year, but the rest of the time, there's snow in the passes.

My favorite loops:

Reno-395N-70-Quincy-70-Oroville-70-backroads-20-Nevada City-49-Downieville-49-Sierraville-89-Truckee-267-Kings Beach (Tahoe)-Incline Village (Tahoe)-431-580-Reno

Reno-580-Carson-580-Minden-88-4-Angels Camp-49-Sonora-108-395-Carson-580-Reno

I won't have to be there to run the campground, can get reliable hosts easily. Heck, Al Norcross might want to do it during riding months. It would be closed once the snows come. But Jones' hunting would be going strong.

All I'm going to build structure-wise is a huge steel garage, which will have showers/bathrooms/washers/dryers with outside entrances. I might do some cabins though, can get those prefabricated easily.

At a recent rally, someone suggested putting a parking lot at the old highway entrance. That would allow trailers to be parked. We'll put a gated enclosure around it and the entrance.

That used to take me five days on my bicycle!
