Big Wheel
I'm a new COG member and I deeply appreciate the shared experiences and knowledge on the forum. I'm having a problem getting the oil filter off of my new 2017 at the 600 mile interval. I searched the forum and found at least 2 methods I didn't try before running out of enthusiasm this evening. I'm confident I can make progress tomorrow. I've read pipe dreams of 12.5 minute oil changes. Ha! I have about 1.5 hours invested and I just have an empty crankcase and a thrashed oil filter to show for it.

I'm not a wrench and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn last night

In a situation like that, there have been times I ran a long screwdriver through the filter to get better leverage.

I'm sure others have better ideas.

My thrashed oil filter is due to the screwdriver method. A strap wrench stretched like Gumby and my hand had no impact. Next up is tapping on the tightened hose clamp and getting a locking oil filter wrench from Harbor Freight.
