Recently I posted that Shoodaben Engineering is no longer supporting the c10, and a brief explanation as to why. That only seemed to create more questions, so I hope this post will put all that to rest. There are a number of reasons, as you’ll see.
First, the c10 is old, and my part supplies were drying up. Along with that, demand for 7th gear units and then advanced cam sprockets was done.
In 2018 I was diagnosed with permanent Afib and heart failure. I continued to rebuild c10 carbs. That progressed into a couple heart ablations and my ejection fraction reaching 10 to 15%. During a workup for heart surgery in 2020, I was diagnosed with adrenal and kidney cancer. At that point I was really ill and didn’t want to deal with the chemicals, plus I could barely stand up.
At this point I sold the carb service to Forefront, but I stayed on to provide customer support.
1 year ago exactly, Forefront suffered a devastation fire in which all equipment and assets were destroyed. Just devastating. Since that time the owner has sidelined the carb work which was a pittance of his income, and concentrated on rebuilding the most lucrative portion of his business.
For some reason when I share this info, many many people ask for Forefronts contact info, or ask me for the specifics of my modifications and procedures. Here’s the answers to that:
1) Forefront is to busy trying to rebuild, calling or texting him is a distraction and won’t “kick start” the process. At this point we’re talking about 20 set a year. Not enough money to pull him away from his other work.
2) I cannot divulge the procedures or mods because I don’t own the rights to them . Forefront owns them.
So that’s it… by default I’m out of the c10 game. For whatever reason, I’ve had a number of c10 owners ( not necessarily COG members) become angry with me over this. None of this was by my choosing, but life marches on. If there is a silver lining, it’s that after my kidney and adrenal gland was removed I got lucky, it was only precancerous tumors.
I hope this gives a full and understandable explanation that some here wanted.
