Rear Shock Compatibility

Hi - just to confirm, the C14 OEM rear shocks are compatible across all years? E.g., one from 2017 model will fit on a 2009?

Not sure what the differences are but here's what the parts list shows.
'09-'09 same part#
'10-'12 same part#
'13-'14, same part#
'15-'20 same part# Maybe spring rate difference?
What is the best way to be sure the used one I bought will fit my bike without trial fit?
I want to send it on fr a rebuild.

Dimensionally, they are the same.
Mechanically, the spring compression mechanism changed a bit over the years.
& The adjuster is different on later models too. {mounts a bit differently}

Supposedly the 2018/19/20 have stiffer springs.
{Would be a plus if you could find one of them}

Ride safe, Ted

The adjusters can be swapped from early-late-early. Ensure the knob is backed right off CCW; remove the swivel hose fitting from the adjust and hold both open ports so as to minimise dripping oil; screw swivel fitting onto other adjuster. Only a few drops of oil will be lost; not enuff to worry about. Screw adjuster knob fully CW while watching the spring compress at the top before fitting the assembly to the bike.
