I have heard through the vine that the bun cooler was possibly taking labor day weekend.  I have not heard anything official on that.  If people are interested in an informal get together in John Day we are up for that.  At Americas best the rate for TWO nights is $197.64.  Friday and Saturday-4, 5, 6 September.

We will have the same meal arrangement as last year.  We can also have breakfast at the motel.  Same arrangement.  Scrambled eggs w bacon and cheese.  Hash browns if anyone is up for that.  Sandwich makings for lunch.
Let me here back and we can get it on the calendar if there is interest.

We will be social distancing, masks and hand sanitizer... :13:

September 4-6.(7)

Meals will be cooked like last year.  by donation.  $7.00 (dependent on appetite!)  Brats, dogs , burgers.  Chicken breast(or suggestions*) for those diet specials.
potato salad, mac salad.  chips cookies.(individual bags for safety and health.)
Breakfast will be egg scramble.  Cheese, bacon, salsa, sour cream, tortilla.  (again diet special suggestion*)
I can bring sandwich makings for anyone interested.  Let me know.

*special diet requests- give me  a call 248 819 1500.

I will need a head count for meals.

We won't be doing a banquet this year.  If anyone has a little something for a grab bag gift or gag, bring it on!!!  I will provide the paper bag for you to put it in.
Any and all contributions appreciated. lol!

Hand sanitizer and gloves for meals while I cook.. social distancing outside should be a breeze.  just sit a bit further apart than last year!

Rooms Americas Best:  $93.62 a night for 3 nights  for friday, saturday. and sunday.  taxes included.
800 452 4899 or 541 575 1462

Shirts?  24.00  sizes needed.  Need to order at least 10.

we hope to see both of you there this year if you can make it.

does anyone know how long the ribbon has been going?

Hopefully this will get posted to the calendar soon. :103: :a012:

You all have some fun. After being told what the Doctors want to do, it appears my motorcycling season along with about everything else ends July 21st. Then I'm in for a couple of months healing.  :'(  Then the Doctors might get to have their way with me again needing more healing time.

I feel for ya Tim!
Now two wks since my hip surgery. Goin fine tho.  Hope to ride in another week, maybe two?
Been hell watching the wx so nice and summer is here, watching others ride by. ARGH!

Sorry Tim, all you old busted up farts heal up!! (OH wait, that label now applies to me, crap!)

I've got my room. Look online and you can get a better rate than what the manager is authorized to give.

T shirts for the "ride the Ribbon" meet and greet.

I have 3 people that wants t shirts.  10 shirts is the starting point, for getting them printed.  Let me know by Friday, the 14Th of august.

7 people interested in "Motel Dining".  People if you are interested, let me know.
as I stated in previous post, if you have dietary issues, let me know, I'm good at working around issues.  If you do not sign up for meals and wander up and say"that looks good"  I will agree.    :-\ :-[ :103: :103: :103: :campfire:

we will have individually wrapped cookies and chips.  Your food will be served up.  It may be a bit slower than serve yourself, so be patient.  :beerchug:

I'm interested in motel parking lot food.

Nope! Have to cancel.
Stay at home to be with daughter Carrie for 6 weeks of radiation treatment 5 days a week.
We are dealing with it.

Ken, I'll take you up on your offer of motel parking lot food and offer back not only monetary reimbursement but also my services cooking and cleaning as needed.

Andy

Thanks< Andy!!!

I posted to the cog facebook page tshirts for the ribbon.  If it doesn't  get deleted.  they need to be ordered by friday.  Last year I had a bunch printed up and had quite a few left over.  If the post remains, I will not be out any extra shirts. :)https://www.customink.com/g/qkg0-00ca-g119?fbclid=IwAR1uZNJE3l-qcwuAhh6JQO9G0uRpidBcyzqUNsdGCxlf77Ki9FQVWuamEaE

Here is the link to order shirts

Update on my RtR appearance this year. Had to make some concessions for family, plus could not find a place to make reservations for two RV sites, looks like all OR St. Parks have gone first come first served basis. So I will be RV'ing in Terrabonne, OR for a week, close to Bend where my son lives, and doing day rides on my ZX-10 and TW. One of my planned rides will be a big loop through John Day, and then maybe up by the Painted hills another day, so I hope to run into some Connies on the road!

Bob Rainey will be in attendance. Bob doesn't do internet, so getting officially registered isn't working out for him this year. I'm willing to bet he'll gladly pay for motel parking lot food.

I'll be up for parking lot chow, as I'm sure son Raymond will too.  We will both be riding our new (to us) bikes ;D

Count me in on the parking lot CHOW, I love that you want tires :)
🍳🥓🥪🍪🍪🍪🍪🥗🍽 :nananana: :rotflmao:

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WE ARE STILL EXPERIENCING COVID 19 RESTRICTIONS. It should be easy to social distance with the same set up we used last year in the parking lot. Respect the 6 foot recommendation. some people are not as worried as others. We are responsible for our personal space. If you are uncomfortable that people are getting to close just hold a hand up(that's my favorite one), or back away, or say-I am not comfortable with you this close to me. It is up to you to speak up in regards to your own health and safety.
We are going to be in John Day for an informal Meet, and Greet and Eat. Lets not forget the casual riding some choose to do!
Everyone is looking forward to a good time. Lets enjoy the Labor Day Weekend!
First posting on the new forum. WHERE ARE ARE LITTLE EMOJI THINGYS?????????????????🏍🏍🏍🏍found 'em!

Left on Friday with Andy and Nancy. We headed over Chinook Pass and down to Yakima.

It's kinda cool to realize that mountain in the background will be in my rearview mirror in a couple hours.

Temps were pretty high on the way in. My bike read 112F several times. Luckily, the cooling vest worked well, and today the temps were much cooler.

Today was cooler and some of us slept in a bit. Charlie led a good sized group along the Middle Fork of the John Day River. Bob Rainey led another group, going the opposite direction.

Monday was the day to get back home. Andy and I left at a few minutes after 6am. I should've taken a picture of the quiet and still parking lot. As the poem says, "Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse".

The sun was coming up behind us and made for some incredible lighting effects on the landscape.

If you liked the pictures you saw, just remember this is what is waiting for you if the National Rally is back in the Pacific Northwest again. :)

For those of you stuck at home with smoke everywhere, here is something to spend a few minutes on.

I have a "dashcam" hooked up to my bike. It records every minute the bike is powered on. The quality isn't what "action cameras" can do, but it isn't bad. There's no image stabilization here, so just keep that in mind. And I like the perspective, since the camera is located under the headlight. If the bike leans...the camera leans...and so do you as you watch it. So be careful! :D

I also find it interesting when the front fender shows up on the bottom edge of the video. Not that a white fender is all that interesting, but the fender/wheel is moving up and down...and the bike isn't nearly so much.

I didn't ride this as fast as the rest of the group, so I apologize for not scraping my pegs, though you wouldn't have noticed since the sound doesn't seem to be working. That'll give me something to do...

Hopefully my trusty stead will take me there next year. Chris, you are not helping those of us stuck at home and enjoying the smoke.
