SENA Intercoms, Group Buy

I'm working on a deal in which we could buy SENA Intercoms at a discount price.
I'm particularly trying to get a discount on the 10R and 10U, but others may be possible.
At this time I'm posting this to see if others are interested???
If you are, post here, or PM me...

NOTE: Don't ask. I do not know the prices yet.
Adrian's checking to see if he can get us the discounts.
(Previously he helped us do a Shoei group Buy)
Saved us about $100 per helmet!

Ted if your contact can't help you, check with RKA maybe they can. They deal in Sena & are motorcycle communication guru's anyway.

Got back into town yesterday. Had not received a reply from the vendor.
Will give him a day or so and then call him again.
Watch here for any updates.

Keep the notes coming in so I can get a rough count...

Ride safe, Ted

I'm planning on buying another dual SM10H set to replace the original I've been using since 2010. Still works great but one of the tiny speakers wires has frayed over the years and required resoldering. Its time for a new one.

I received a reply from Adrian today.

He can help us with Scala or (other?? {Clear talk I think}) but not the Sena at this time.
Said he was looking at becoming a Sena Vendor "now".

I thanked him for his efforts.
&  told him, I was primarily interested in the Sena and will wait until he knows more about the Sena Vendor option.

Stay tuned, I'll get back with him in a week or so.

Until then;
Do keep posting if your interested in the Sena Units,
and, let me now if the Scala option is something we would want to explore?

I'm interested in a 30K if the price is right..... :)

That's a pretty expensive piece!  Probably a nice piece of gear.  I've had a pair of 20s' for awhile and really like them.

I would think the mesh would only work if all the riders had one (30k) though.

You know you can just buy a new mount, and not the whole unit. And they sell replacement parts. I have gone thru a couple mounts since I started using Sena's.

Bad news. Talked to Adrian yesterday. He wasn't able to do the deal for us.

Not sure how I'll still pursue this. Someone mentioned another option in a previous note here.
I'll go back and see if I can do anything that way.
If anyone has an idea of who I can contact, send me an address..

Bummer

Jerry mentioned Rocketmoto a few posts back.

I got my first SENA yearrrrs ago thru a group buy information on the Advrider (?) forum, group buy set-up through  Adam at Rocketmoto.com

Had a warranty issue a few months after my purchase, and dealing with Rocketmoto was very painless, they were extremely helpful.
I think I even called them, great customer service over the phone and everything worked out good.

Ok, I talked to Adam at Rocketmoto.
Good guy!!

He said he can/will help us. {Said  he can save us some $$}
Will send me prices soon..
So, as of now,,,, We almost have a deal in place..

NOTE: SENA has a "MAP" in place (Minimum Advertised Price) so I can't post prices on the Forum.
I also can't send a price list of all the things SENA offers.
If you interested, send me a PM and let me know which ones your interested in.
I'll reply with information on those units.
(after I send information) If you want in, I'll need you to PM me choice/name/address/Email/phone number

NOTE: I asked him to look into prices for SENA 10R, 10U, 10C, and 20S. {Others?}
He said the 30K is not available yet and advises not to be the first to buy when they do become available.
My intention is to keep this {primarily} as a SENA Group buy.
He can also get other Manufacturers Intercoms and {if your really interested in one of those} we can talk to him
                about those.

The Catch: I'm a COGger thru and thru, my thought was to keep this only for COG members.
To be fair, If your a Forum Subscriber, contact me and let me try to talk you into becoming a member.
                  Hint, hint,,,  >:D

Here's how we'll do it. {Tentative plan}
Starting today, I'll collect names and disperse info to everyone.
March 31st I'll give him the name List and send everyone a Rocketmoto Discount Code.
Everyone will then contact Rocketmoto to complete their purchases..

Questions?

+1  I have bought a few Sena units from Adam, always helpful if needed  :great:

I talked with Adam again the other day.
He told me a bit more about what his prices would be and said he'd send them to me that day.
No exact prices in the discussion.

The note he promised, didn't arrive. (again)
So, again I'll call him and see if we have a correspondence problem.

NOTE: To those of you I estimated prices.
He confirmed that my Guestimation was pretty close to correct.

More later, Ride safe, Ted

UPDATE: News is good!!

I talked with Adam and he sent me the prices.  Prices look good!
:beerchug:

I just got thru sending notes to all that expressed an interest.
If you didn't receive a note, let me know. {Send me a PM}
If you want in on the group Discount,,, let me know... {Send me a PM}

As I sed before;
I'm a COGger thru and thru, my thought was to keep this only for COG members.
To be fair, If your a Forum Subscriber, contact me and let me try to talk you into becoming a member.
The savings you'll get from just this deal, is more than e'nuff to pay for your COG membership.
                                            Hint, hint,,,  >:D

Now,,, who else wants to get in on the Group Buy??  <grin>

Ride safe, Ted

AmphibSailor/and others,,,, PM's sent.

NOTE: I didn't mention; In order for him to give us the discounted price, he needs 10 (or more) folks to buy..

So, who else wants into the deal?

Ride safe, Ted

AmphibSailor said:
Ted,  I'm interested in a remote for the 20s if that's offered in the group buy. :beerchug:

Hmmm, I wasn't thinking about that one.  Good idea Patrick.

Everyone keep looking at prices elsewhere...
This is what I found. There may be better deals...

For instance; Gsun found a ($50) better deal for the 20S Dual pack on Amazon..

https://www.amazon.com/Sena-20S-01D-Motorcycle-Bluetooth-Communication/dp/B00KJGPMZI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486875488&sr=8-1&keywords=sena+20s+dual+pack

I'll bring it to the attention of Adam, as he may have misquoted;
but this might be a "WOW!!"  "Buy it now" price!!!

NOTE: I've been looking at the 10U and the 10R and have not been able to find better prices than he offers.

Ride safe, Ted

At $371, that's a pretty amazing price.
Others I saw on Amazon are showing $409..
Revzilla is $494..

I trust your info, but Not sure where you found that info on not authorized?
  {I admit to computer illiteracy}

I just looked at Rating of Outdoor-Experts.
  Seems good.
Outdoor-Experts
5 out of 5 stars
100% positive over the past 12 months. (1,198 total ratings)

I've been trying to find other better deals on the other Intercoms and accessories. So far, Adam's are the best.

I plan the 10R Dual pack for myself,, but this price makes me consider the 20S.
NOTE: I like the low profile of the 10R.
10U would fit my helmet but not my wife's New Nolan.

Is anyone currently using the 10R??

Ride safe, Ted

I agree with Ted.  If the item they are selling is an original item then Sena will cover any warranty issues.  I bought my 20S new from another COGer and registered it with Sena, no issues.

AmphibSailor said:
The authorized dealer list is on Sena's website, IIRC.

Did You find Outdoor-Experts on the list ? because I couldn't.

Ted
That is why I said "looks like", don't get me wrong but I was ready to buy.

I need the Sena soon so I pulled the trigger on the Outdoor-Experts one at $371.00. Too good to let slip by. Also ordered the three button remote. I'm going to fab a mounting plate and mount it on the left bar under the grip. It will use the existing bolt like Murphs for the Rostra. I'll post it when I do it.

Not a problem biczek. I appreciate your input.
Honestly not sure what Authorized Dealer means?
If you learn more, please let us know...
We need to know the info.

Amazon has the 10u for Neotec for $260 + free shipping.  Beats Revzilla by 9 bucks.  Still hoping we can get it even lower.

Adam, charges shipping, but (w/shipping) beats the Amazon / $260 by about $15. (10u / with remote switch)
And, he'll help you with installation or Warranty problems if any arise...  (we have his phone number <evil grin>)

I believe that manufactures trying to avoid  counterfeit products to reach you so they can respect theirs terms of warranty.
Then you buy a product from  unauthorized dealer they don't know if the product is theirs own and can void warranty.
That is what I'm thinking.

I was just posting that for comparison.  I will go with the group buy when we get enough people.  I'd rather buy from someone who will help the group of us rather than the nameless faceless Amazon drones.

Not a problem.
You mentioned you hoped we could still get it cheaper than the Amazon price.
I knew you hadn't seen Adams 10u price yet, so I posted the info,,, and added the fact that it included a remote.

Ride safe, Ted

Talking to Adam. Tried to send him shortcut to Outdoor-Experts / Amazon...

I clicked on the shortcut we have, and it no longer works.
Can anyone find it?

NOTE: Adam said if we had problems with install/warranty he will assist...
                          Amazon would not...

Several asked about 30K and 10c EVO.
Neither unit is available from SENA.
They are just being advertised as a future design.

NOTE; I'm nt beating my chest for Adam. Just being the in-between on questions I've seen.

Who else want in on the group buy???

As soon as we get 10 firm commitment's / with info we can order.  Right now, I officially have only 2....

To join those 2;    Send a commitment / PM "to" me titled SENA GROUP LIST.
      Include;  {Name/Phone number/list of what you want/ address}.

Ride safe, Ted

Seems the Outdoor -Experts no longer have it. They have a lot of guns....

While looking at SENA headsets I just came across a SMH5 and SMH10.
Both units are older style SENA units than the one's we've been discussing.
  Both are also good unitsl.

FYI: If anyone is interested in getting in on the group buy {but the newer models at just too much},,, Adam can also save you 15% on those.

Ride safe, Ted

Everyone: I need your help.
We may have enough folks that are ready to buy. (I need 10)
But, {because I've received so many notes/questions etc}
I've become confused about who is committed to buy?

{Did I mention I'm a computer illiterate?}

If you are ready to Commit, please send me a "new" PM.
(So I can get a count and have all the info easily available)

Title that PM: SENA GROUP BUY; Commit

On the PM I need information. {to give to Adam}
He'll use the info to determine approx. shipping costs.

I need; Forum and real Name
            Street Address
Town / State / Zip Code

            Phone number

            Email address

            What you intend to purchase

I'll gather all the info and send it to Adam. {as soon as we have 10 folks}
He will then send me ordering information, including a Discount Code.
I'll then pass the info on to all of the Committed Buyers.
And then,,, you can order your SENA Intercoms/etc...

Ride safe, Ted

If anyone needs more info to get in on the deal,,, let me know!

By the way, nothing in this for me...
Just helping other COGgers because that's what we do in COG!!

Ride safe, Ted

Anyone know if any of these would pair to the older Uclear 100 set I have now?  Mine works fine but I could upgrade my hat to Sena and have the counter weight using the Uclear and save me a chunk.

Bob / Alan / James Blue ZX10R, I added you to the list (Reply #70)
Sent PM's to Bob and Alan...

I just updated the list. We now have 11 that are committed, and 8 that have shown interest....

Bob, without knowing which one your interested in, it's difficult to answer.
But, the newer Intercoms are supposed to link with almost any other intercom.

Ted

Ted will you have yours by Wildflower?  Can we try it there?

How long will the discount be available?  If I can wait till we try it and I can build some cash that would help.

PS:  I have a NeoTec so my guess is the one that will go into it but I have not studied the offerings yet.

I probably won't have mine yet as I haven't received order info from him yet, and shipping will take time.

I think your talking about a 10U that fits inside a Shoei.
The 10S, 10R, 10C, 20S, (and probably others) would attach to the outside of the Shoei.
Go to SENA Site or Revzilla and look over the various offerings...

Judy and I are going with the 10R Dual pack...

Ted

NOTE TO ALL THAT WANTED A 10U INTERCOM.
I think they may offer a 10U with,,  and a 10U without Remote.
The price I sent out was for a 10U with remote.
I just realized that those of you that wanted 2 ea. 10U's would not need a second handlebar remote for the passenger...
So, I'm trying to get a price on a 10U without remote..

MORE IMPORTANT NOTE :
All people that contacted me are on the Committed Buyer List.
See Reply #70 to confirm that I listed your Order correctly..
I've now sent the list of Committed Buyers to Adam.
I'll send you Ordering Info as soon as he replies with the details...

Order Information for the SENA Group Buy has been sent to all of you that Committed to purchase.

Let me know if you receive my note and let me know when you do your purchase!

Ride safe, Ted

PS: If anyone else wants in on the group buy,,, let me know immediately!

Update; 8 of the 13 that Committed to buy,  have placed their order for Intercoms from Adam.

If your one of the remaining 5, place your order as soon as you get a chance.
(If you didn't receive instructions on how to order, contact me)
If anyone else is interested in the Group discount,,, let me know!

I orderd mine on Tuesday, it shipped Tuesday  :great:  They dropped shipped mine from Californiam scheduled deliver is Monday  :)

I also ordered a 3 button remote which they discounted also, even though it wasn't on the list

Thanx COGnosticator.
I forgot to mention that.  :-\

The Intercom each person listed is NOT the one they have to buy.
You can opt to get another model, additional items, or even a different brand...

When I ordered mine, I talked with Jeanette about other SENA Models.
She was very knowledgeable and helped me make a final decision.  (10R Dual pack)

She definitely was knowledgeable and helpful and great to deal with.  This isn't the first time I have bought from Rocketmoto and won't be the last.

Just wanted to let folks know that Bill and I purchased the Sena 10D-11 a couple of years ago and they are awesome.  Wish there had been a group buy back then!  Good job Ted.  :great:

Anyone sitting on the fence will not be disappointed.  You can have a conversation on your phone and no one would be the wiser that you were on a bike.

The only bad thing..... I really don't care to have phone conversations on my bike....  :motonoises:

Great for group rides also.  Very useful on a ride to Barber's M/C Museum right after purchase.

I placed my order for the SPH10HD-FM-01 (half helmet dual set) on Tuesday.

Got a call from Jeanette yesterday telling me they couldn't find the dual set so they were sending me two single sets.
She said they checked into it and it was going to take them a couple of weeks to get the dual set in and they didn't want me to have to wait.

She said that two single sets were more expansive than the dual set but they would eat the difference and only charged me for the cost of the dual set.

Thanks to Adam and Jeanette ... that's great customer service!  :beerchug: :)

Sorry if I'm asking a question that has already been answered. Is there varying quality across the Sena systems? My reason for asking is my wife recently bought and had installed (at Cycle Gear) and Sena SMH10 unit for my full-face helmet.

I can hear her speak pretty well up to 40 mph (windshield up), ok at 50 mph but beyond that forget it. I can barely hear her saying something but not understood and sounds distant. Should it be clear at highway speed? I'm assuming yet.

thanks,
David

David, it can depend on how noisy her helmet is.  If it is quite you should be able to hear her up to around 60-70 mph.

The microphone, if it is a boom mic has a direction to it, you will see a small protrusion at the mic, that should face away from her mouth.

If neither one of those is the problem, I got nothing  ;D

The 10R {etc} are newer models than the SMH10.
Supposedly they are louder/clearer.

Also, check and see if your speaker is lined up with your ear.
Many have had that problem.
Next option is see if you can put some foam behind the speakers and push them closer to your ear.

Lastly, when I talked with Adam last week, he mentioned that he could install "premium" speakers in any of the sets.
Didn't suggest that I needed it, but said "some" like the premium sound..

Ride safe, Ted

Placed my order and the 10U arrived at my doorstep yesterday.  Installed in the helmet today.  Seems to work OK.  Thank you again for organizing the group buy on these.

Thanks Ted. All good tips and will check it out. It's still under warranty for exchange so I may take it back and get the 10R model and see how it works if I can't solve it soon.

Appreciated!

Talked to Adam last Friday  and received my dual pack 10R on Monday  :)
Will try to install this weekend. >:D

Thanks Ted and Adam.

Mine arrived yesterday.
Hope to put them in the helmets tonight.

Still ok to include more intercoms.
If anyone else is interested, contact me and let me know which your interested din.
I'll send you the costs.

NOTE: I can't post them here as their below the allowed public List price. (Per Sena)

Ride safe, Ted

Got mine first of the week.
Great job Ted!! Many thanks!!
Now, how about a Pirelli Angel GT group buy?  :)

Pam and I received our Sena !0u's from Adam and Jeanette last week. Great people to deal with!  Just getting used to the units and I am very impressed with all the functions that it has! Thanks again Ted for setting this up!

Guys,
We've had the SMH10 for several years, and they work great!
As far as noise cancelling goes, I've never heard myself, but Ted can tell you how it sounded the other day at 95 MPH. I have a Scorpion Exo-400 helmet, the winddhield was all the way down, and I think he still was able to understand me - through my normal mumbling.
Battery will last all day long, and range is about 1/2 mile in the open.

Friends have the same model, and also have a Scala (not sure which model - not very old) and they like the Sena much better.

Great opportunity.

I have a Sena SMH-10.  For the first time I thought I would change helmet mounts so I could use earbuds because I am trying to save my hearing.  Took the Sena off the mount for the first time since I have owned the two units.  The safety clip broke the first time I pressed it to remove it from the old helmet to put it on the new one.  It's a skinny piece of plastic, so no big deal I thought.  I called Sena and the key clasp to securing the unit and removing the SMH-10 is also the most fragile piece of plastic on the unit.  Oh well cant cost much for a new one, only Sena says the do not make or repair that part.  You have to be kidding me right, no I have to buy a whole new unit because the most used thinnest piece of plastic broke the second time it was used.  Still a good unit but I hope they are making the newer ones more robust.  We are on motorcycles that Shake Rattle and Roll, just give me my monies worth.
