I want to plan, mark and distribute ride info but I do not have a gps. I might one day so... What say you about software options. It would be great if I could do routes that had small detail area and entire route on one sheet. Something that I can email, print, show online. It be great if I could just point to the next way point and it builds the road but if I don't like it let me drag the route to other road options. It be great if I didn't have to build a route sometimes but could mark/highlight and list all the cool roads in an area. I am sure some of you that have used software know more about what I think would be great then I do. Thanks ---------------------------------- I will answer any question. It is up to you to figure out if I should have.

most of the mapping only s/w can do most of what you want. Two I've used in the past are... Microsoft Streets & Trips Delorme Street Atlas USA -- Steve Smith, #3184 COG Northest Area Director (somewhere in south central CT) If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

I usually use MS Streets & Trips, but I used the newest Google maps recently and liked it alot (plus it's free). With MSS&T, I usually take the route and export it to Word for editing and printing. I haven't figured out any software that automagically cuts down on the minute unnecessary details, like follow the slight curve in the road, so I edit it down to about half the turn by turn instructions they come up with. It may not be what you're looking for, but look at http://www.grouprider.com/. It interacts with Google Maps and allows you to create and share rides and routes with friends. You can set up riding groups, and then use it as a forum for people to track and sign up for group rides. I don' use it myself much as I don't lead many group rides anymore, but some of my friends like it a lot.

They have improved how google maps works since I played with beta. I do not lead rides only make suggestions on roads to build your own routes. Here is what I have done so far in Arkansas starting in Hot Springs area where my next trip will be. Map ---------------------------------- I will answer any question. It is up to you to figure out if I should have.
