I do a lot of riding, attempting to post up some day ride destinations and meet up. It appears there are several members South of the Skyway Bridge. Any interest or feedback on any of these locations to meet up in the future?

Muscle Car Museum... indoor, A/C with 50's diner/restaurant and gift shop?

Solomon's Castle... I don't know is a little hokey, or interesting?

John's Pass Village...Gators @ John's Pass has several levels, on the water, boats coming and going on the pass that enters the Gulf. Plenty of room for large groups if it turns into some group interest. Plenty of Motorcycle safe parking. To those that have time, you can spend a full day kicken around the Johns Pass Village or even spend the night.  http://johnspassvillage.net/

Sounds interesting. Why don't you get in touch with Shawn Wyder, your nearest AAD in FL and see if y'all can work up a list? Then, he can help you get it on the calendar.

Thanks for taking the initiative. It's members like you who get things going. Cool!

Doug -There was a COG gettogether at Soloman's Castle about 6-7 years ago and it was pretty well attended. The food in the restaurant was good and the museum was interesting. I'd probably go again.

The Muscle Car Museum sounds great and I'd certainly make that trip.

Thanks for trying to get us SE folks together.

I am out of pocket for possibly the next several weekends, definitely next weekend. I will put something together and post it as soon.

Funsize & Victor, Mt T  Thanks for your replies!!

Solomon's Castle is quirky, food is fair. Muscle car museum might be cool.  I live near John's pass and it can be a pain to get there especially now during spring break as well as it being a major tourist trap with virtually no parking that is free.

I guess it has been that long.

Anyone heading up for the COG breakkie at Daytona this weekend? I do plan on it.

Hey Douglas, thanks for jumping in and suggesting some FL day rides.  Both Soloman's and the MCM would be a little outside my day ride range, but I would be interested in doing some camping on the gulf and exploring that area.  Anyone else interested in doing a one night (sat.) camping thing?  If not, I'll camp and do the day ride sat. or sunday. Any good/somewhat economical camping spots right on the gulf?

Shawn- You might check out Myakka State Park in Sarasota. They've got a nice website full of info. It is conveniently located for Gulf Coast exploration. Hope to see you at a west coast event.

I'm going to try to make it. Picked up a nail in the rear and I have to get that and a niggling electrical problem fixed so I can ride over. The cage's tranny is iffy, so it's two wheels or nothing (not that I consider that a disadvantage!).

Ed, sounds like the proverbial "PITA"..... :rotflmao:

I think there's an epidemic of that with all the new construction going on.

All of the houses on my street were built within a short period of time 20 years ago. Now we're all getting new roofs. So, fortunately, this happened only a block away and was less of a PITA than it could have been.  Even so... :banghead: :banghead:

Shawn,
I searched "Florida camping" and found more info. than I can post here, narrow your search down by the Counties you are interested in, Fort DeSoto Park, Myakka Park have good reviews. Madeira Beach KOA has cabins and pool.

I'm probably not the best person to ask, I associate camping with the wilderness, having done extensive backpacking in the Adirondack's and New Hampshire when a younger man. Now, I appreciate creature comforts.
