Hello, Was wondering if anyone has this horn installed yet? If so, how was the installation and is it really loud? Thanks for your assistance. Robert Elliott Cornelia, GA COG # 7598

I have one on my Wee Strom and yes it's very loud. It needs it's own power supply via a relay (use the stock horn wires as a trigger). I love mine and am very glad I put on the bike. Not sure where you'd mount it on the Connie, maybe where the stock horns are? Roger ('07 Wee Strom) COG 5903 Virginia Beach, VA

Roger, there isn't enough room where the stock horns are. I mounted mine on the right side attached to the battery box, then drilled a few holes to vent it. Seems to work fine.

Since I have a 2-line SS brake lines setup, the factory splitter at the lower forks is gone. I made a little bracket and mounted it there. Need to make sure and get the position right so that the horn does not interfere with turning the bars. also makes it so you have to remove the horn to remove the headlight. At least I do, as its taking up some of your working room right there. You can read about my bracket making skills here. http://mysite.verizon.net/slybones/Concours/connieStebelHorn.htm 2003 Concours, 46K COG #6953 IBA 28004 http://mysite.verizon.net/slybones/Concours/connieMain.htm

When I mounted mine I used zip-ties and put it under one of the side covers. Be sure to mount the compressor vertically - the instructions mention this somewhere. If you do this tje horn should last a long time, otherwise they burn out pretty quick. It may be something to do with lubrication. Has anyone tried the "harbor freight" version? I think it costs about $40, about the same as Stebel. David in Jax, FL COG# 7898 CDA # 2002 ZZR-1200 "Magic Carpet" 2004 Suzuki Intruder 1500 LC "Luxury Couch"

Has anyone tried the harbor freight" version? I think it costs about $40, about the same as Stebel." I'll find out after I install one in my wife's scooter. I picked one up last night at HF for $30 w/tax (ad for $35, then %20 off coupon). There are some examples on youtube. Search for "wolo bad boy" or "stebel nautilus". ..dz.. 2003 Concours 1983 Honda Silverwing 2008 Yamaha Majesty (new) 2003 Honda XR70 (son's)

Yes I have the Harbor Freight version. Same horn as the Stebel, just a different name on the package. You can also get them at Advance Auto Parts.

The HF horn is a Wolo bad boy I believe, it's 118 Db loud. The Stebel is 139 Db loud so they are different horns. 1968 Honda 160 Scrambler, Sold 1979 Kawasaki SR 650, Traded in 1978 Kawasaki KZ 1000 Z1R Turbo 1986 Kawasaki ZX 1000R Ninja 1999 Kawasaki Concours COG memb# 8645

The HF horn is a Wolo bad boy I believe, it's 118 Db loud. The Stebel is 139 Db loud so they are different horns. At what distance is the Wolo measurement. I think the Stebel 139 is at a few inches. At 4 feet or 7 feet ( something like that, its a common measuring distance for measuring horns ) its only like 115. Having said that I find its plenty loud. I had not tried it in a while. The other day I came home and pulled in the driveway. And hit the horn. About 5 seconds later the garage door started opening. The wife heard it loud and clear. Opened the door. Then found out I was pressing it for no "good" reason. Proceeded to give me the "do you know how loud that thing is" lecture. I guess it still works. 2003 Concours, 47K COG #6953 IBA 28004 http://mysite.verizon.net/slybones/Concours/connieMain.htm
