Well, it was a pleasant surprise to see some exciting racing at the premier level today!  :beerchug:

While the eventual winner took the lead from the first turn (never to relinquish it), the furious action behind Lorenzo continued unabated for the entire race.  Marc Marquez did not disappoint in his first ever MotoGP event, taking third- but the real story is that he nearly had the second box but for the mad rush of Valentino Rossi!  Rossi charged early but made a grave misjudgement on a turn that forced him back to the middle of the pack in the first handful of laps, but he fought his way back to the top five with six laps to go- and those final laps were an awesome dogfight between he, Bradl, Crutchlow, Dovisioso, Marquez and Pedrosa.  Fully encourage all to check out the highlights online if you can, the race aired this afternoon at 3pm EDT.  Moto2 is coming up late this evening still, and Moto3 will air Tuesday- check your cable listings and set your DVR's!

Great start to the season, hopefully this is a sign of more good racing to come.  :motonoises:

Great race Steve and it bodes well for the rest of the season!!!

Lorenzo looked supreme, Pedrosa seemed ill at ease (tires?), Rossi looked like an amateur twice at the start but then went nuts.  Marquez fit in right off the bat and Crutchlow choked for the nth time.

Ducati's looked a bit better this season and I imagine Stoner was choking back frustration as he looked at his v-8 car that doesn't lean.

Bring on the rest of the season eh???

Awesome race. bummer that Lorenzo got out to such a big lead so early but he really
can put in the consistent times lap after lap. I'm really hoping that Rossi has a great season
and a chip on his shoulder to prove that he can still run and race the new kids.  :motonoises:

Looking forward to a great season.
