Tired of Not-Riding Ride! Pacific NW

Two friends and I just had to kick start ourselves into small group riding this year, so all were up for it.

Our Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki's took us on a day ride from WA into northern OR.  Had lunch, take out, at Heppner, OR and came back thru Pendleton and Holdman (a used-to-be town) and then thru Wallula Gap, alongside the Columbia River.  Sought out the small towns and less used roads.  Map link is below ...

Nice curvy route heading east from Heppner towards Pendleton

Stopped in Holdman, OR - a dry-land wheat growing area.  You can see some fields in the distance.
This stop always has shade by these grain elevators (can see us at the base).

Across the way is the long abandoned Holdman school

Through Wallula Gap of the Columbia River, which is defined by high cliffs carved by repetitive ice age floods (massive) 10 - 25,000 years ago.

This is the lake in the dammed up portion of the river, with cliffs on both sides of the Gap.  The rock is basalt, from huge lava flows tens of millions of years ago.

240 miles, everyone liked it and good company.

Pretty decent riding out there.

My oldest son and wife(both retired Navy) have a place in Goldendale until they build on a twenty acre parcel north of there on the ???? River up in the hills.

Hopefully I'll be out there in June.

A fine day and a fine route. I have 'watered' the foundation of that elevator a time or two, always shady. The road is in pretty nice shape but when they resurfaced it about 4 years ago it was sure nice. I lived in Wallula when I was 4. Thanks for sharing.

Great ride and excellent photos! Love those roads and area. We usually do a similar route during our annual trip to Bend and John Day area. Can't wait to get out there soon, thanks for sharing and bringing back some great memories!!  :great:

Been out riding al least weekly.
Yestdy did east pierce county roads and went as far as Greenwater. Smallish 110 miles.
Great day great wx and even late afternoon small traffic.

We are in Weston, or.  Home of the Long Branch.  Have you been there?
Last we went out for a ride up through Ahtena, Helix, Holdman, and out and about.
Two weeks ago some of us went up to Moses Lake.
Heading out to Kamiah this weekend.  Maybe we will pass out on the road.

Stop in some time if you are in the area!

Rode with the Oly RAT riders Sat.
Hot! for the PNW 80-87 F. Nice to just wear mesh gear!
300 miles, looped out to Raymond, maintained 6 ft distancing even stopped for brown bag lunch.
