Channing from ROK (in the photo with Guy Young) rode in on the green promo C14. Sue Slate is riding a Versys set up with panniers and a top box... a sweet set up. I will see if I have a photo of it or will take one. Last night was the social. Cash bar and $5 BBQ sandwiches were available. COG merchandise sales was open all day, doing a brisk business.

At the social lots of announcements were made by Vic Salisbury, Southeast Area Director, Rally master John Carver, and Executive Director Ken Ford. We saw a presentation of "The Fontana Project" a history of the of the Fontana Dam. Stan Simpson, AMA Chairman of the Board, talked about the "new" AMA.

We left Fontana @ 6:30 this morning, heading over to Cherokee to pick up the BRP. We spent the day riding the full length of the BRP. We arrived at the motel in Harrisonburg, VA @ 9pm and hooked up with the crew. I'll post more photos when I get home. -- Steve Smith, COG #3184 COG Northeast Area Director (somewhere in south central CT)

Well , I made it back to Las Cruces, New Mexico on Sunday afternoon. Put about 5000 miles on my connie. Glad I took some extra time to see the east coast etc. I thought this has been one of our best rallies, I've been to. Had a scary moment leaving Memphis when I got caught in a severe thunderstorm. I was told to seek shelter because they also had tornado warnings. I've got soaked like never before and really thought I was stuck out on the road. It got so bad that I couldn't ride the bike. Waited a while until I could get a bit further and had to stop again. Finally found a hotel and got out o that mess. I've looked at all three websites where they posted the tail of the dragon pictures. I would encourage everyone who rode the dragon to check them all out. quite a few pics there but you can choose the slideshow and just watch them. I've seen some awesome shots of you guys there! Bob, did you intentionally take off the windshield or did it depart unexpectidly?! Greg H from Mass, Connie Droppers Anonymous Awards Dude COG# 7010,a Tracey CDA 120 (2.0) 99 Connie "Herrin Christabelle", 05 Ninja 250

CDA(c) story or how I lost my windshield. I was staying with someone else in my room so I got up real quiet and left the room at 7am half asleep so I could do the Once Around the Park gps route and get back kind of early. I checked the front tire pressure then... nope the back is flat. I got the repair stuff so all I need is to Cstand it and find the hole. The bike was unloaded so I felt no problem except the parking lot was sloping away from me but not much. I tilted the bike till I felt the second foot hit and felt I was golden. I hoisted it up 95% of the way but failed. On the way down it got even further off center away from me and there was no stopping it from that side. Over it went hitting the windshield on the step of the suv next to me. It also bent the old style peg lowering bracket but not enough to effect integrity. I did the entire day anyway after fixing the flat with no shield and bent peg. Some people were around when it happened and I told a couple on the way out and when I got back I found an OLD stock shield with my name on it. Still not sure who donated it. I got home fine. 815 miles on Friday to make it into Texas but not home. ---------------------------------- South Central Area Director Email scad@cog-online.org
