The videos are all over the internet – Bike riders splitting lanes end up crashing.

The practice looks unsafe, but it's perfectly legal in California.

A study from UC Berkeley says that when a motorcycle rides between lanes of traffic, at speeds slightly faster than traffic flow, bike riders are no more likely to have an accident. But if they drive more than 10 mph faster than traffic, the chance of an accident greatly increases.
