Arguably some of the best riding in Texas and great Trans-Pecos ambience in the Chihuahua Desert environs and mountains.

Robert Baker says "Let's take my tank off and disassemble the fuel pump in the parking lot." Everybody agrees that is a great idea! Bob Church is left to hold his finger in the leaky vent tube.

If you haven't visited the Basin area of the park, this might be the best time to do it in the near future.

Thanks to funding from the Great American Outdoors Act, work on two large construction projects in the Chisos Basin will begin in May 2025 and continue for approximately two years. These projects will only affect the Chisos Basin area of the park, but significant disruptions in access to the Chisos Basin are expected. Stay tuned as construction timelines are finalized and the NPS determines the amount of visitor access that can be safely supported during the various stages of construction.

Thanks Mark!!!!

I registered first....so what did I win?....better not be a can of red spray paint from Ted (Texas Ted not N. M. Ted).

Bike Banditos and New Riders of the Lechuguilla!

Weather looks great for the Trans-Pecos and Alpine in particular:

Thursday

Sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind around 5 mph.
Thursday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 58.
Friday
Sunny, with a high near 83.
Friday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 53.
Saturday
Sunny, with a high near 82.
Saturday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 53.
Sunday
Sunny, with a high near 82.

In the lower terrain near Rio Bravo the temps can be 10 to 15 degrees warmer. If you go to Rio Grand Village/Castolon in BBNP or ride The River Road (FM 170), be sure to stay hydrated. The Tee Pees rest stop on FM 170 is a great place to stop and hydrate.

The Basin will have MAJOR CONSTRUCTION starting in 2025, so this may be the last chance to have a decent ride up into the Chisos Mountains as the construction will take over two years to complete.

See you all in Alpine!

OK, here's a challenge! Get a picture of your bike with the Stardust Motel sign in the west side of Marfa on US 90. It is not far out of town.

It was also known as the San Jancinto Motel when it was built in 1950. In 1955 when the movie Giant was filmed in Marfa many of the crew stayed at the motel which is now gone.

I will have more on this at the Highland.

Thanks for joining Cliff! The 300K Milestone for your 08 is in sight!!

Marty was a great ride leader/tour guide for me! šŸ˜Š
Thanks Cliff. Very gracious of you to not mention how you had to look at my brake lights all the way to Presidio, as I scared my self several times. That one time you purposely left your turn signal on for 1/4 mile just so I'd feel better about myself was a nice gesture as well. (y)

I labeled up a photo for Jimmie to enjoy.
