Nice Work Colin! Thanks! When I looked at the page I saw this though "This article is being considered for deletion in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policy. Please share your thoughts on the matter at this article's entry on the Articles for deletion page. Feel free to edit the article, but the article must not be blanked, and this notice must not be removed, until the discussion is closed. For more information, particularly on merging or moving the article during the discussion, read the guide to deletion." What's that about??

Yikes!! I saw that too Sean. Looks ike we need some heavy Wiki users to get our backs on our little Wiki-world! Dave Muir 1980 LTD1000 - Rocket 1999 Concours - Rocket II 1997 Dyna - wife's CT-COG #3649

Yes there is a danger that any page can be deleted by the moderators. Turns out the moderator who posted that is a) a Brit (ok I'm embarrassed) and b) is a BMW rider. He is claiming that COG is "unremarkable" Feel free to pitch in but be nice: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Concours_Owners_Group_-_COG Colin Colin Prior COG IT Director Lake Forest Park WA COG#7767 AMA#1081764 ROK#20000617

Yep looks like a lot of work just wipped out.  I suggest wiping out the Brit Beemers log...

Sorry I missed it!  :'(

It is sad to be deemed unremarkable.  I am sure there are other sections of wikipedia that are much less remarkable.

Ridiculous, they put more work and resources into deleting it than it would have been to just leave it there.  Though I can see the point about it not being verifiable by third party sources, I think the page could have been left up with some kind of warning, until there could be some verification.  But, where would verification come from?  Are we licensed by Kawasaki, or govt., or anything like that?

Well, whatever.  By their standards, Wikipedia itself should be deleted, where are the articles such that show the remarkableness of Wikipedia?

What makes COG any less remarkable than those listed in these Wiki pages...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorcycle_clubs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_motorcycle_clubs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_Motorcycle_Owners_of_America

I think it is time to repost COG.

I agree with Steve. There are some really lame-o pages on Wikipedia. I've been to some that have absolutely NO information, but they're still on there. Someone must have an axe to grind.

Eddie

Thanks for the input chaps.

We have not lost the page completely as I moved it over to a personal wiki page here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Colinp386/Concours_Owners_Group_-_COG

So we can have a go at re-instating it at some point.

A lot of it goes back to a lack of press/coverage by us.

Hopefully Mike Kuban will be able to address this :)

Feel free to contribute to the page.

Colin

Colin,
What about an addendum to the Kawasaki Concours wiki page proclaiming the existence of COG.  It seems that since the page is already in existence and apparently meets their criteria it would be a good place to build some cred.  Good thought?  Bad idea?  Silly?

You'll notice that this group has had a warning up since 2009 requiring 3rd party references.

I think I smell a discrimination suit.  C:)

I think it's interesting that I was looking up some information on an actress and found some on Wikipedia. It's states that she was born in NYC yet several other references state she was born in Sumatra, Indonesia. Quite a difference, yet the Wikipedia page is still there. It does request other sources but is not marked as "unremarkable" even though it has almost no information. Just sayin'!

Eddie

What about that article about the Concours being a 'cult' bike?  I don't remember the publication, Rider or Cycle World, but that seems to me like 'remarkable'.
Also, we have been around for 20+ years and the bike has been around for longer than that.
I would give it another go, then we could keep an eye on it.

I'm not sure if its the bike or the folks that ride it that are a cult! LoL

Been a bit busy on other projects but I'll have another go at launching it.

C.
