Continental Conti Motion tires for 17" conversions

Approximately 300 miles on my new 17" wheels and so far my impression is very favorable.  My first tire choice was mostly dictated by price as I spent a bunch on the conversion. This being said the Conti-Motion tires are very well suited to curves.

Traction is excellent as the compound is softer than the Dunlop roadsmart I had up front and even the Avon Azaro rear, (yeah I know mix and match, but no more!). I don't expect great mileage but so far I am having fun.

Funny as I can feel the rear tire "fall" into the curve so much earlier than before with the 16" stock wheel, so I don't know if this is a function of the new height or width or the tire itself. But the bike is very responsive and takes little input to induce lean. Much better than before.

Just got back from a short hop through the Oregon backroads fully loaded this time with saddlebags and Givi trunk, about 50 miles of mostly twisties.  With everything on the bike the front end feels like it is 20 pounds lighter than before! I mean this thing sings to the point that I really need to get use to not giving it as much input. It is remarkable that it almost feels like a different bike.

With this in mind and for you suspension expurts, what would lowering the triple tree 1/2" to an 1" do to the lighter feel to the steering?

2linby, thanks for the input I have to pull the trigger soon on the 17"front, decisions, decisions. I will still be running the Azaro 16 on the rear until I wear it out, 2-3k left I think then I will put on the modded 17 rear and will have to buy a rear.

It will feel even lighter, as Willy said.

Thanks guys!  Well then I guess that is out!  Like I said this is a new machine in comparisson to the stock wheels.  WOW!
