Crashed My Concours 10

EyeOnTheSky

Tricycle
June was a tough month. On June 1st I dropped my 2005 Concours while trying to get it off the center stand. Luckily, no damage done with that one and I earned my CDA number. But then last Thursday, June 26 I was riding highway 49 in Northern California and I crashed. Well, this time the bike didn't escape damage and I didn't escape injury. I'm in recovery now and am already starting to think about how I'm going to fix my Connie's fairing. The bike still runs like a top and nothing but the fairing and the left bag seems to be damaged. Also, the forward bracket for the left bag broke off completely and needs to be welded back on. Now I'm running questions through my head such as, replace the fairing, or not? File a claim with Geico insurance with a $1000 deductible, or not? If you want to read about my crash and see the pictures, click here. I'm "EyeOnTheSky" at Pashnit. I'm a little deflated and discouraged right now and I would appreciate any comments and suggestions on how to proceed with my bike's fairing. COG #8241 CDA #0276 AMA #1029586 2005 Kawasaki Concours

Dave, sorry about the crash. It sounds like you are going to be O.K. though and that is the most important thing. The next thing is to get the bike back on the road. I think a new main faring for a C-10 can be had for around 450.00 through Ron Ayers. The side panels are cheaper but I'm not sure of the price. With a $1000.00 deductible you are probable talking about a wash when it comes to a claim. After you heal up put pen to paper and add it up. Good luck.

Thank you. I checked Ron Ayers website and, wouldn't you know it, the latest year for which they have parts for my 2005 Concours is 2004. But at least I have an idea of the cost. The upper cowling is $449.59, the left-hand lower cowling is $199.86 and the left-hand turn signal is $29.74, for a total of $679.19 just for those parts. Since they're closed today for the July 4 holiday, I sent them an email inquiring about availability. COG #8241 CDA #0276 AMA #1029586 2005 Kawasaki Concours

Yikes Dave, glad that things didn't turn out worse. I've been on 49 in a cage & ever since have wanted to ride it...looks like a blast! :) FYI http://carolinacycle.com/Default.asp have yer fairing fer $438.97. They ship WAY faster than RA, tho that's not sayin much. I'm a happy cust. Try Bike Bandithttp://www.bikebandit.com. I ordered body parts for my 2005 back during Bike Week and was happy with their service. They offer discounts for AMA members. It's worth a shot. Eddie AMA# 686667 COG# 7073 CDA# 0136

Dave, sorry to hear about your crash. I hope you and the bike mend quickly. Greg COG # 7010/7010a (Tracey) CDA 0120 Connie Droppers Anonymous Awards Dude (CDAAD) 99 Connie "Herrin Christabelle". 05 Ninja 250

Hey Eye, glad to hear you're gonna make it. Getting off is no fun!!! As far as interchangeability of the main fairing, all bikes will interchange from 86-06.
