Goin' up the river

I prepared my chariot for its journey ahead. Tires? Check. Oil? Check. Heisenberg Compensator? Check.

Left off for my journey to the Ohio River, but not before helping the rider in front of find his way to I-74.

I valiantly led him through the wilds of US-27 and part ways. A boring 30 minutes later, I arrived at the Ohio River on lovely US-52.

Hmm, low on fuel. Might as well stop.

Everything was looking just fine. I stopped off at a little park took a few more pictures.

And then, somehow, I crossed the Atlantic, Europe, much of Eurasia and arrived in Moscow.

I stopped off at one of the locks and marveled at the size. The thing is huge.

Stopped for lunch at The Olde Dinner Bell and turned back around for home. A leisurely 180-ish mile day on with hardly any traffic to get in my way. It was a good day. : 46k miles

Chad: I'll give you a hint, keep heading up-river (NE). Before you get to Louisville, Ky or New Albany, In, and if you are on the Indiana side of the river, then you need to make it a point to camp overnight at Buzzard's Roost Campground. This would be in the Hoosier National Forest somewhere near Magnet or Alton, In. Now this is 800 feet above the river so you get quite a view. Between there and Louisville there are all kinds of back roads you can explore, just be sure you have a good map or GPS (this is on both sides of the river). Also if you see highways 11 and/or 111 in Indiana, they will take you into New Albany but you will go past a floating casino. This was my old stomping ground and I always had a good ride along the river. I did often run into things well out of the ordinary, but that was years ago. :) tcars John

Chad, Nice write up, with pictures to boot :) I'm adimiring your seat, home-made, Sergent, Corbin ? Dave Nesseth COG 4475 Rockford Ill.

I am told it is a Corbin Mustang. It came with the bike, and I am dreadfully in unaware of alternate seat products. My wife loves the seat. She can lean back and relax. I believe this seat is what allowed her to make the 1800 mile trip to Panama City, Florida and back last summer. I started from Cincinnati and went east/up the river from there. I had intended to ride all the way to Portsmouth, but when I saw the sign saying 71 miles to Portsmouth, and wanting to get home as a reasonable time, I stopped in Higginsport. Motorcycling has made me something of a camera whore. I now take pictures on every ride. : 46k miles
