I  just bought the large jc whitney trunk for a trip on monday. Will the stock rack hold the mounting plate and case? I know I read of some people cracking the factory rack. I dont know the weight limit on it but I dont have any other options because of time.
 
Yes the stock rack will hold the plate.

The Phil's rack will hold the box better.  The kit that holds the Givi monokey works peachy for the JC Whitney as well.

Of course that's a Cadillac hinge for a Kia door...  but hey.  :)
