Hello to the COG community. Been perusing the site and enjoying the great content. Just purchased an old but new to me 2003 C10 w 43k miles, picked it up for $950. Appears to be in relatively good shape other than some cracked plastic due to a few garage drops by previous owners.. Like the bike so far. See a lot of folks label these bikes as ugly - I think the looks have held up pretty well considering how far back the design goes. a lot of bikes that tried to be trendy along the way look very ugly now in my opinion. As you can see in pic's, mine is red, really like that color on the Concours...

Planning to go through the bike starting late fall/early winter to catch up on maint items that I have no idea when they were last tended to - ie - valve adjust, plugs, fluids, maybe carb rebuild (depends how it runs after valve adjust/plugs), go through brakes... Do see some slight oil leakage and will be checking water pump and other items. Fair bit of mechanical experience mostly on 2 stroke MX and cars. The tips I have read through on this site are very helpful - Thank you!!

As for myself - First time street bike owner, age 64. Chose this as price was easy on wallet and like the riding position/power. To old for true sport bike and not ready for the cruiser style - felt like a good style to start. Grew up riding dirt bikes, did a bit of amateur motocross and hare scrambles along with a lot of trail riding.

Couldn't figure how to add the pic's of bike??

Welcome! Until you upgrade to a full membership, you can only link to pictures on other sites. Full members can upload to our site. You might as well upgrade and be done with it. The perks are well worth it.

Yes, do plan to upgrade soon to full member. Absolutely see the value in it..

Congratulation on the new bike. I see that you did very good.
ie; Ya got the fastest color.
Yes, that red color really stands out in my opinion. And other than some cracks and scratches, the paint has held up well even on the plastic. May be looking for replacement middle plastics down the road, but would imagine good ones are hard to find at this stage.. That is pretty far down the list though..

Several members have gone the semi naked route on the c10 by removing the lower fairing. Exposes the engine. Onobob has a beuatiful blue example... if ur listening bob, post a pic please...;)

Welcome!
I know you are upgrading membership, but to let you know you won't be sorry. There is a huge amount of technical info you'll have access to.
Some of it is how to do some normal stuff, but there are also sins great ideas on unique things.
Enjoy... the C10 is a great bike, and a real sleeper on the performance side.

Welcome!

I bought a 2002 last fall and went through it last winter, and it's been giving me some great riding this year.

Sounds like you have all the basic maintenance items in mind. The carbs work great on these bikes, but they can be sensitive to sitting, as the idle and pilot circuits tend to get plugged up. Working on the carbs isn't bad, but taking them in and out is a bit of a pain. If you do, it's worth getting a fresh set of rubber boots between the carbs and airbox. They get stiff over time and make the operation a lot more frustrating.

Welcome.
There is a detailed thread on how to do the half naked thing. It’s easy and cheap.

i also recommend removing the air pollution plumbing / installing block ofc plates. Again, easy and cheap

Enjoy the ride
Bob

I don't care what Ted sez about red. I love your blue bike.💙

Hey gang. Checking to see if there is a way to track original owner of my 03 Concours to see if ever was or still is a member of this COG group. Would be nice to get a little history of the bike. I purchased it in Indianapolis from 2nd owner, was told original owner was from Virginia I believe and may have moved to Indy when it was sold to gentlemen I bought it from. My understanding is the original owner had it for majority of time/mileage and sold to second owner appx 06/2021.

BTW - will be submitting for full membership soon, just prioritizing my expenses as I have maint items to complete (Water pump going to Murph's this week) as well as gear to purchase. Just picked my TourMaster Transition Jacket, Bell full-face, still shopping for decent boots and pants..

Loving the bike so far, great power and handles pretty well. Excited to really start sorting things out over the off season and be ready for early spring adventures..

Welcome! I just joined a year ago (when I bought a 2002), and I have been loving the comraderie here.

I'm not aware of any member information tire to bike information, but I am a more recent member, so I could be missing something from the olden days.

If you can find the previous bike owner name (public record search or something), perhaps you can have a club officer look up old member rosters.

For protection of personal information COG does not collect, tie, or accept VIN # information to member.

@bmatthews4605907 welcome to the COG, as you prioritize your membership note the access to technical documents and how-to information.

Wayne, Carol & Blue

Bmatthews you could use your License plate number and go to the Courthouse.
Using that number, (I think) they could tell you the names of previous owners.
After becoming a member, you could use the Membership Handbook to see if that person is still a member, (and/or) you could post a question to see if he replies.

Ride safe, Ted

I remember back when I had my S2000, the forum had an owner registry... I don't think we entered our vin. I'll see if I can still log on to see what all was involved... it might be worth trying here.

So, it was a Google docs spreadsheet that lists: username, model year, last 4 of vin, color, city, state (or country). To be put on the registry, you'd just list this info in the thread and I guess someone was designated to enter it in the spreadsheet.

But the car was only built for 10 years and this was started early on. I imagine it would be quite the undertaking to assemble this kind of info for the Concours at this point.
