Tricycle
I bought a used '08 C14 last week. Wanted an ABS, but the price was right, so got a non-ABS bike with 6300 miles on it. Had a dirt bike in the mid 80's. Bought my first street bike in the Summer of '07. It was a Honda Rune. Sold it to a friend in January and he still lets me ride it. I wanted something more practical. Hard bags, adjustable shield and fairing were a must. 156 horsepower and all the extras are awesome. I love the gauges. I am riding really easy getting to know the bike. I put 14,000 miles on the Rune and didn't put it down. I hope to go awhile before I put the Connie down. I wear a full face helmet and try to wear all my protective gear...this bike is intimidating.

Welcome Jeff. A good thing to do once youu have become acclimated with a new bike is to take an MSF ERC. You learn and practice hazard avoidance techniques such as maximum braking and swerving and obtain confidence with your ride. -- Steve Smith, COG #3184 COG Northeast Area Director (somewhere in south central CT)

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

Good idea. I am looking forward to taking the ERC. Of course I took the BRC before I took possession of my first bike, but haven't taken the ERC. Taking on the new bike is a smart thing to do. Thanks. The ERC is only offered here once a year. I just checked. It is two weeks from today and they had a few spaces available. I signed up. Man, your suggestion was timely. Thanks so much!!

Hi Jeff, welcome! You've found a great group and will get lots of helpful tips and advice here. Enjoy the new ride.

Steve, I took the MSF ERC on Sunday. It was very well done. I am wanting much more. Ordered the book "Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well" by David L. Hough Also looked into the classes taught by Lee Parks: Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic. The closest one is a 90 minute ride, is $325.00, and would probably be smart to ride in the night before to spend the night so I am fresh in the morning when it starts.

Not too far from you over in SF. Welcome to the mix. ----------------------- Brent Johnson AMA# 1046574 COG# 8402 SF Bay Area California 1988 Red Concours "Ruby" connie-dot-mrpepsi-dot-com

Welcome Jeff, You are good to ease into that bike. It has the potential to be your best friend but the power to be your worse enemy. ---------------------------------- South Central Area Director Email scad@cog-online.org

Howdy Jeff, I too am in the Sacramento area. I don't know if you are aware but we have a monthly get together at Brookfield's Restaurant at the intersection of Madison Ave and Interstate-80 on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm. We discuss what's new with each other and upcoming rides, wrenching sessions, etc. I have to say these guys are some of the friendliest and helpful people I've had the pleasure of being associated with. Look forward to meeting you. DRW Sacramento Area COG #7575 '06 C-10 '09 C-14 (Red)

Jeff, Where did you take the ERC class? I have been looking for one and they are not scheduled very often. I need a Sunday class as I work on Saturday. Roman 2001 Concours California COG #8642
