no head light

In the last 2000 miles I have lost 2 headlights. 1 high beam and 1 low beam. Both times the headlight indicator came on. this AM, I fired her up to ride to work and no headlight, high or low, and no indicator. Didn't have time to trouble shoot. Had to leave her at home and take the cage. ???? Is there a fuse for the headlight or just the j-box relay, and if fuse or relay would the headlight indicator come on if eather is bad? Just looking for some place to start when I get home tonight. 1990 Aint she a pretty Tomato (the bike ofcourse) wedshots albums http://community.webshots.com/user/sawfiler64/albums/most-recent

Start with whacking the Jbox. Its just more fun when you can whack something. Did you test the other light bulbs to be sure they were bad? Are you touching them with your nekid hands before inserting them? I know there is a relay that turns the lights on after you start the motor. I am just guessing it in the Jbox. ---------------------------------- I will answer any question. It is up to you to figure out if I should have.

I could see the droken filaments in the blown out bulbs. We were very careful not to touch the glass on the bulbs when changing. I am currios as to why the headlight warning light did not come on. 1990 Aint she a pretty Tomato (the bike ofcourse) wedshots albums http://community.webshots.com/user/sawfiler64/albums/most-recent

My low beam went out once and it was pretty exciting leaving that gas station and accelerating into darkness. Haven't had a recurrence of the problem though. Makes a good argument for driving lights though, I'd hate to have been doing 75mph on the highway when that light went out. :-/

Well I changed the fuse even though the old one looked good - No light. Whacked the Jbox multiple times - no light. Changed out Jbox - LIGHT ON Good thing we had a spare or I would have had to steal one off sons bike. It's naked so wouldn't take much to get it off. Could have just traded him and not said anything, but I had already told him I was having trouble with my headlight. 1990 Aint she a pretty Tomato (the bike ofcourse) wedshots albums http://community.webshots.com/user/sawfiler64/albums/most-recent

Time to attempt a j-box repair. Start by reflowing all the soldered connections. Guy Young used to have this info posted on his web site, but I could not find it. -- Steve Smith, #3184 COG Northeast Area Director (somewhere in south central CT)

I tried to email him from here to tell him that the link to that info was broken. I got no reply. ---------------------------------- I will answer any question. It is up to you to figure out if I should have.

yes, we have 2 bad boxes now. Maybe we should start a repair exchange service. I remember looking at guy's info last year. It was very good stuff if I remembe right. Hope he gets it back up. 1990 Aint she a pretty Tomato (the bike ofcourse) wedshots albums http://community.webshots.com/user/sawfiler64/albums/most-recent
