Paint coming off muffler- 2009 with 24K on it

the black paint is coming of the muffler. noticed it when I washed it this weekend.

Went to the dealer, their response, first was: over a year old out of warranty, I reminded them that the Concours comes with a 3 year warranty for starters.

Then they said, make an appointment, drop it off, will need it all day for a tech to look at the and maybe then we call Kawasaki.

Anyone else have paint problems with the muffler?  A new one is about $900 I can sand and paint it for alot cheaper, but it is under warranty.
