Perforated or Vented?

Just like the words describe, one is vented one is perforated. I've had both. I've given up both. Vented: Pro's warmer, usually more crash protection more seasonal versatility. You can close the vents if it gets too cool and or it starts to rain. Con's. Warmer and usually heavier. Perforated: Pro's good blend of maximum available protection and air flow for summer riding. Usually lighter. Con's Cooler than you'd like in early spring and late fall as well as night riding and if it starts to rain you might as well be wearing a colander. While leather offers you the most and best protection in a crash against road rash it is heavy, expensive and restrictive in comparison to Cordura nylon fabric wear. It also required a great deal of care to maintain its water resistance. However it looks so freaking cool and WITH proper care it will last a lifetime in comparison to any synthetic material. If you are going to buy leather I'd recommend you buy the absolute best you can as cheap leather goods will not last as long, wear as well or offer as much protection as the best. In the long run buying the best now will actually save you money in the long run. Just don't get it stolen or gain too much weight!! I've gone full synthetic because it offers almost as much road rash protection, lighter weight, brighter lighter colors, home washable and initially less expensive. And if need be I can stitch up nylon, I can't work leather. I ride all year long and I've experienced 6-7 years before I've worn out of my cordura garments and even then they have been serviceable, just worn. The good news is that over the years riding gear has gotten better and better. So there you go, one riders opinion. I'm sure others will chime in shortly. AKA "2linby" That's 2-lin-by folks!
