Here is a simple way to protect your down tubes from getting rock dings and it will keep dirt and debris out of your fork seals.  It takes about $1.00 worth of pipe insulation zip tied to the fork tubs  8)

I take it that they must be loose enough and short enough to allow for the fork movement? A pretty slick idea!
 
This will save your fork seals and you will not even know they are there.
 
Same stuff I use to block the vent in my Rifle windshield base when the rain is pouring in through it. Also use it to plug the holes in the wind scoops if I want warmer feet.
