Rear brake disc

I rode my 04 Connie today and notice my rear brake was vibrating when I used it to stop. When I got off, I noticed some gray metal(?) build up on the disc? Any idea what it might be? Do I need new pads? New pads were installed about 8,000 miles ago. Thanks for any help.

Hey Terry, I would pull that rear caliper and inspect the pads pronto. '02 Connie COG # 6662 Dallas, Tx

Did you put some anti-squeak on the back of the pads? If you use too much of the squeeze tube type of anti-squeak it may push out from behind the metal backing catching any dirt, dust, etc. until the next pad change. You might see some of this splooge on the edge of the rotor. If the brakes are working properly you shouldn't have any build up in the area where the pads contact the rotor. If you do you might want to take the caliper off and inspect it as well as the pads.
