WOW! What a freaking machine! Jack Salsbury was kind enough to let me ride his during the 17th annual NWCOG Bun Cooler ride this past weekend. Great power and braking. Now I have to get a job! AKA "2linby" That's 2-lin-by folks! COG #5539 AMA #927779 IBA #15034 Team Oregon MC Instructor

July 25th at Mid-Ohio race track Kawasaki is having demo rides. I am practically busting at the seams to ride one. Cant wait. I went to Harley and Buell demo days. Rode 4 Buells including the Ulysses and 1125R, along with two hardly's and didnt like any of them better than the Connie. The 1125R was really fun but cant take the riding position. Lewis

back in 83 I turned my GPz1100 into sport touring. still got it. about 10 years ago I picked up an 84 1100Ltd shafty and rode the cr@p out of it. 10/2007 I bought a C14 after trying on all the other brands. NOBODY around here gives demo rides. Best you can do is in the showroom. anyway the C14 fit best. gotta say I love the handling and smooth power this bike has. scheduled some vacation time and plan to make a rally. look forward to meeting other COG members.

Hey Bob, you know you might be able to pick a "slightly" damaged one in the Tri-Cities area. I heard that a "Crazy Canuck" left one behind on the weekend ;p Once I finish dealing with my insurance people, I'll let you know what the outcome is. BTW Bob, thanks for the call at the Hospital, that was really much appreciated....nice touch!!! :)
 
Bob, there is a nice used one at Skagit Power Sports here in northern Wash. I'd be glad to Deliver it for you at the Coast Range Ramble. Even Test ride it for you. ;)

Sorry Chuck, the insurance Co. decided to pay to have it fixed, so I had to bring it back to Canada. And on August 16th my dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse, he took over the crashed C14 and put me on a bran new one for a $1000. Here in BC, Canada you have to disclose to a prospective buyer any damages sustained to the vehicle and it's cost. Since mine had over $9000 worth, it would've been very difficult to get a decent price for it if and when I sold it. That's why for me the deal was a no-brainer. Froggerman, Thanks for the reply and congrats on coming out of your situation in such a good way. I don't have problems with my bike. I'm looking for the extra rear wheel just so I can have a new tire mounted and ready to go in case a long range trip comes up. I frequently find myself changing out a tire with 1K or 2K tread left because I don't want to get caught out while travelling. It's one of those JIC things.
 
I took a demo ride last summer at the COG national rally. I liked it a lot and would upgrade in a heartbeat. Several big ticket home improvement projects (new front concrete steps and new driveway) made me decide to push off any new vehicle until 2009. A used 08 just came available. I know the owner and he is meticulous. The bike has 3000 mi, ABS, bar risers and maybe a few other goodies. I am tempted... what would be a fair offer? -- Steve Smith, #3184 COG Northeast Area Director (somewhere in south central CT) If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

In North Carolina (and it's similar through most of the US) if a vehicle is damaged for 75% of its value, the insurance company will pay off the value of the vehicle and offer a buyback to the owner. The state will then issue the vehicle a salvage title, since the repairs are left to the owner. Your dealer treated you well, obviously wants you to come back in a few years for the new and improved C14. :) He can get the wrecked bike repaired for cost though, which makes it a situation where he can still make a little money and keep his customer happy. If the vehicle is repaired, the state will inspect it, then issue a new title for it to replace the salvage title. That history will be attached to the title, but it'll have full title again. My C10 would be technically totalled if all the plastic and bags were destroyed I think, simply because it's so inexpensive as a whole and the plastic is SO expensive from the dealer. Add labor into that and you can hit 70% of it's value pretty quick, add say a bent front fork and that'd throw it over the top. I refuse to ride a C-14, though I do drool over the one in the showroom whenever I go to the stealer. I always wait for them to do the work, which they say will be 30 minutes and turns in to 2 hours. They know if they keep me in that showroom long enough I'll likely walk out with something I can't really afford. :)

You're totally right on that one Brett, and I knew that going in, they didn't hide anything from me. But I figured it was a win win situation and they've always treated me good in the past, so who cares if they make a few $$$ that's why they're in business right? and I get to ride now, not in 1 or 2 months or whatever it would've been. Remember this is a new model, and the parts are shipped from Japan and some of them are still in back order. Froggerman, I always say to give credit where credit is due. The idea is from my insurance man although you certainly can use it. He rides a K1200LT and uses an extra rear wheel to get the most out of his tires. It is such a practical idea that I will continue to try and find one for my C-14. Ride safe.
