I've read of it and heard it's pretty good, but have never used it. If I ever switched from Rotella (dino or syn) I'd go with Amsoil. Ya know I don't think I have heard of a single case of an engine cratering from choice of oil. As long as its got oil you are good. That being said I have been using rotella syn also just because many run it and no one complains. I have no way to know if its better. I feel it shifted better then the golden spec I used before. If I push the change interval to 6k I don't feel as bad inside. Who knows if the engine does. ---------------------------------- South Central Area Director Email scad@cog-online.org

I've used Royal Purple, only because over a year ago Advance Auto had a shortage of Mobil 1 on sale so they allowed substitute of any synthetic oil. $ 29.95 plus a Mobil 1 oil filter, couldn't not give it a try. Nothing spectacular, it worked, no lunar eclipses, gas mileage quadrupled (NO, not really, it only doubled LOL) shifting improved with the oil change, degraded when it came time for the next oil change. I wouldn't pay full price to run it again. But I tell you what, the local tuners that run at the drag strip down the road swear by it. That

I have used it since my second oil change on my 2006. I have always liked RP in all my other vehicles. They do have Gear oil for the rear end, and a motorcyle specific Line http://www.royalpurple.com/gear-oil.html http://www.royalpurple.com/motorcycle-oil.html

Why is the color purple associated with Roalty? AKA "2linby" That's 2-lin-by folks! http://www.biblelight.org/col12.htm The colour purple is associated with royalty and status for example: "So Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, with a great crown of gold and a garment of fine linen and purple; and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad." Esther 8:15 This is how I understand it.... unrelated to grape gum which I enjoyed as a child. The dye which was used to make purple came from a small creature. It was very expensive and thus only wealthy people could afford it. (or so I have been told). Eddie Never mind. It's in the link David posted! DOH! Sanford, FL 2005 Concours 1969 Triumph Bonneville AMA# 686667 COG# 7073 CDA# 0136 http://picasaweb.google.com/Eddie753

Here's a link to the Amsoil site. They have tested and compared many different oils, so we don't have to. I like Amsoil because for the same price or less as retail stores, it gets delivered right to my doorstep. http://www.amsoil.com/products/streetbikes/WhitePaper.aspx

I've used it the last couple of oil changes and my experience was the same as Vic's. At the price it is, I doubt I'll try anymore, I'm not sayin it aint good stuff, it is, but is it really any better than Mobil, Castrol, Rottela and many others is debatable.

I have a '06 C-10 with approx 9,500 miles. Changed oil at 6,300 with RP 20/50 moto synthetic. So far so good - no oil consumption in 3K miles but man this stuff is expensive! Paid $11 a quart - would like to go to something cheaper but dont want to keep changing oils. Used Kawa 10/40 for earlier changes.
